I'll warn ya now I tend to ramble a bit.
Well Gee...
Sorry I find this sort of thing odd.
Ever hear the saying "Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it"?

OK First you didn't say which type of pepsi, If it was diet it's worse but the reg is bad enough.

< ramble > Have you ever heard those old stories from the 50's of guys that would retire and drop dead of a heart attack in a week?
Turns out some people working in munition factories had heart probs. No one ever knew cause they were exposed to Nitro G all the time. Guess what they stop working < stop being around nitro > And as soon as it's out of their system the heart gives out.

What does this have to do with pepsi?
Check the history of Pepsi.
Pepsi and Coke came out at the same time.
Both were originally Not intended as a kids pop drink.
they were both medications.
Coke was an energy pep drink to give tired people a bit more durning the day.

Guess what pepsi was..
It was a stomach medication for people with digestion problems...
It helps you digest your dinner.
Thats also why it makes so many people burp a lot. The higher fizz it used to have was to help with Gas bloating.

So..
work it out.
You've been taking daily doses of digestion help meds for How Long?
Guess what happens when you stop cold...
Two things.
Any weakening of your digestion due to age or any health probs Well you no long have the med controlling that.
And your body is used to the help. It may not know how to do it on it's on.

So two things I'd suggest.
Like others ask your doc to check you for problems.
If there is nothing s/he can find. It may just be weak from years of pepsi.
So you can quit but do it slowly.

Oh the reason I mentioned diet..
Guess what the diet stuff has.
A New medication..
Nutra sweet....
Have you ever tried drinking a lot of diet pepsi really fast?
Ever noticed you can get high off it?

See nutra sweet was originally developed as epilepsy medication.
They found out it was really sweet.
So they thought,, umm ten years of testing and millions of $ to sell it as a med, OR we can make millions of $ selling it tomorrow as a food additive.

If you ask them or go to their web site they have a lot of info about how it Does Not cause seisures.
Well they are right it doesn't.
But if you drink it for years and you have any slight tendency to epilepsy Guess what happens if you stop cold...

Oh and for those that will think I'm nuts.
one of my dogs is severly epileptic.. We've been treating him for nearly 2 years on 4 packets of Nutra Sweet a day.
He went from 3 grand mal a day to one a month.

Brandonca

See I told ya I would ramble a bit.. ;-}

Nuts or not if it works for you and you think you're sane keep thinking that way.

Actually, In 1986 I was told I would be dead in ten days because my food was not digesting properly.
At that time...it was either operate to extend my life for a little while. Or have aexperimental acid injections. Well, because I weighed the pro's and con's. Figured if I only had a short time left anyway. Why spend it in the hospital trying to recover?
So I took option two.
It is 2005 and I'm still kicking. Yep, as I've already stated I still have some issues but for the most part I'm pain free most of the time.
Acid does wonder's.

<downs a pepsi>

Hee hee. Trying to cut back on the Pepsi (regular). Only one, no two pepsi's today! woo hoo! Working on eating healthier. (ok ok ok, not today as it was just a pbj sandwhich) BUt yesterday i had meatloaf mahsed together with cheese and spniach (got to love spinach) and a vitamin. Woo hooo! Today, i erm, dropped back again, drank two pepsi's and ate something stupid, but i ONLY ate that cos i was feeling nauseous and my mother suggested it was lack of food when i was talking to her. She gave me some oil of oreganol to "fix" it. Eh, i'm not into putting strange things in my body.

BUT Brandonca i wouldnt be suprised. Because intuition tells me its the pepsi. Something about the pepsi, just dunno what. Oh i'm sure i have stress issues too, which may be contributing to it. i know it kills the stuff on car batteries....

Mind over matter Sub4hire.

As for Kisshou, or whatever the name is. i had no clue what the girl was talking about, how it was related and where it came from. So i ignored it. And i dont appreciate you you trying to hijack my thread! i like sub4hire, always have, she's got good input so if you've got issues keep it to yourself. = ) Or atleast out of my thread! (i am abit possessive) MINE (grins)

i'm sure its got acid too with the pepsi.

personally WHAT i think is the Pepsi has gone and screwed up my stomach some how. Something in it... Course now i have a good idea, thanks Brandonca.

Oh and just for another bit of tidbit.

Did yall know heroin is one of the strongest antibiotics? that it can and does completely clean out your system? So people who are addcited to the stuff and stop have a weakened immune system as their boddies are unable to take care of themselves.

Riot girl, I have seen your picture and you do not need to lose any weight.
It sounds like you are having some gastro-intestinal problems which are being exacerbated by both your diet and your stress and anxiety levels. Hence, sometimes you can eat certain foods and you are fine, other times the same foods can make youill.
Whether you want to, or not, you should get yourself to a good doctor and be checked out. you could be experiencing anything from the beginnings of an ulcer to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). you may even have a faulty gall bladder which works sometimes and other times doesn't do it's job. you are not going to know until you get yourself checked out.
your health is important. Best to do something about it.

This is the first I have heard of any antibiotic effect from opiates. Do you have any references to medical literature on the subject?

I sincerely doubt that...

Antibiotics and Opiates act in completely different ways. If anything heroin is usually full of all kinds of crap that could have tons of viruses and bacteria in them. The big reason addicts don't have any immune system is that they dont eat or take care of themselves when they are high.

Well that and also that the immune system has a tendency to collapse when exposed to 'all kinds of crap' in the bloodstream daily for an extended period of time.

I've always wondered why heroin addicts are always so healthy.

Or how they can go on being high, taking poor care of their boddies and still be healthy? Nope cant cite references as when i learn something, i usually forget all about it until something random makes me think about it and then the info just because a random bit of info. When i heard it (and i dunno where and from whom) It seemd to make alot of sense. Though i did hear it was used as such back before they realised it was so deadly.

As for losing weight. Well i WANT to. My wieght has always flucuated. Meaning i can be 120 one day, 115 another, back to 117, down to 112, down further to 107, back up to 112. i generally stay between 107 and 120. Just depends on how lax i get with my weight. And if i get REALLY lax it can go up to 122. Being only 5 feet, i get some hips. LOL So i have to constantly moniter and think about it to keep it down. Eating full meals, and drinking pepsi can have my weight up 125 really. (bleh) Heck the begining of last summer i was there. BLEH. i am "naurally" abit pudgy, so i have to moniter and keep my eye on things to not BE pudgy.

Did ya know if you drink pepsi constantly and then all of a sudden stop, you can lose about 5 lbs from the lack of intake you are getting from it? (ask my mother its tried and true)

If you can ever remember who it was who gave you that bit of info, you should consider taking anything they may tell you in the future with a healthy dose of skepticism.

also keep in mind that if you up your sodium intake for a week, bloat, and then switch to pure water, you may actually drop water weight you were retaining!
for those interested in heroin: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic1003.htm nope not an antibiotic.

Pepsin hasn't been an ingredient in Pepsi since the early 1920's.
