Has anyone had this done?  For weight loss or smoking cessation or something else?  If you had it done, did it work and do you recommend it?

It's a staple that puts constant pressure on acupuncture points in your ear.  Only one ear works, but no one knows which ear for what person, so both ears are stapled.  It's supposed to work within one week and give you a feeling of a full stomach and for those who smoke, it makes cigarettes taste bad.  I know a girl who recently had this done.  I'd heard of it but never thought about getting it done.  But I have these 25 pounds that I would love to rid myself of.  But I don't like staples and I'm pretty much a pain baby.

Fuck...all the cartilage piercing I've done and all in the wrong places.
I must have got mine pierced in the "drink all the beer"  and "hot wings" spots.

As an acupuncturist, Ear Stapling ( http://health.howstuffworks.com/ear-staple.htm ), is a form of Ear Acupuncturing ( http://www.acupuncture.com/education/tcmbasics/earacu.htm ). I use Ear Tacks (little coiled needles with a 1/4" protrusion). It is effective, but make sure you go to a registered practictioner. Accuracy in the needle/seed/staple is paramount. Cleanliness is also important. Hope this helps.

i knew it wasn't really a lack of willpower... it's all my earrings fault!

Sorry, lately i've been thinking about the "Curious Punishments of Bygone Days" section where they talk about nailing someone's ears to the pillory, and got my hopes up... nothing to really contribute

Good Morning Katy,

I just read the links about ear stapling....very interesting.  I once worked with someone who enjoyed accupuncture for stress relief.  It really helped him.  I must say, I looked at your profile and your picture....Where on earth are you hiding those 25 pounds?  You look wonderful.  Being a "healthy critter" I have been using the kimkins diet....it is amazing.  Perhaps this would help you.  Check it out.  Feel free to email me on the other side and I will tell you all about it.  Good luck!

Oh, I'm not overweight, but I'm near the top tier in the bmi scale and I know I'd feel better if I were one size smaller.  For me it's gut weight that is making me nuts.

My ex husband tried this for smoking, and he's still smoking. He also tried hypnosis.
He actually went about a week w/o smoking with each process.

I once dated a woman who had this done for anger management.  It didn't work, and I still flinch when people move quickly around me.  =(

Edit: Gramma-slamma.

They had a place specifically for Ear Stapling but they shut down. From what I hear, it did work but also gave people a nasty infection which lead to negative business. I guess you just have to keep it clean!
