You seem to be popping up all over with your "debates" - sorry, but you seem to be here studying for a thesis or something, as you dont seem to have any real knowledge of or interest in BDSM apart from the academic

I'm sorry. i thought this was a discussing forum. i am here to learn. i agree, my style may not suit everyone but that is how i talk and discuss. i am very new and have had some real time experience and am very interested in leaning not only the physical acts in this life...but the mental act. that is what most interests me. i am sorry if you feel i am attacking you personally. i am not. i actually have a list of questions and thoughts that i wrote down during the week and i was hoping for some information, opinion.

please excuse my analytical mind ;) i guess you could say i am here "studying." that is how i approach things that i want to learn about!

What's wrong with looking for non-leather BDSM gear?

You know... I was thinking the exact same thing.  Not that I have a problem with those here that are just here to learn, mind you... but I prefer them to be honest about it.

I'm not a fan of leather, actually I am thinking of using acid on my leather skirt and pants I have used for photoshoots and taking pics as the acid slowly eats away at the material; all carefully done of course.

Thanks for the link to the NON-leather stuff. I am trying to avoid any materials made from animals if I can help it anyways.

There is a solution for non-leather lovers. It's called RUBBER. Lots of lifestylers are also rubber fetishists and lots of stuff can be made from recycled inner tubes. I've seen restraints, clothing, floggers, singletails, and lots of other things.

You could sell those items instead.  After all the animal is already gone.  You could save someone from buying a new leather skirt and thus killing another animal.  There are plenty of people who have no moral issues with buying leather so, to put it simply, the more leather that's destroyed, the more animals are going to die.

You could even donate the money to PETA or wherever else.

So... leather is "bad" and imitations are "good" ?
Leather is natural and renewable; substitutes are made from non renewable resources through processes that damage the environment still more.
We save the cows in order to kill the planet?
Nope, doesn't make any sense to me!
Rubber is great, recycling makes sense, but imitation leather substitutes....?
Read the description of this "vegan leather" - chemical composition is 50% polyamide microfiber and 50% polyurethane. Shudders.
Spare us from political correctness gone mad!

not sure what you think i am being so dishonest about. perhaps my posts are a little different than the "typical" ones but i am real and seeking information nonetheless.

as to the, "is leather bad and non leather good" replies, it is just my personal preference. i don't force it on anyone and i just put the link out there to share. if anyone knows of any non leather gear, please let me know. i am not into rubber as i am looking for collars and that sort of thing.

sorry to have offended any leather/meat enthusiasts ;)

Thanks for the link. I've got rubber restraints from sub-shop.com. Adult shops usually carry rubber bdsm gear too.

The notion that people are offended by you not liking leather is rather insulting to everyone’s intelligence.  Everyone’s simply stating their opinions and reasoning.

I personally have no problems with leather products, but nor do i see any issues with people who choose not to use them...and that site does seem to have some nice stuff

But i was just wondering if it struck anyone else that the slogan "passion for the compassionate" implied non-vegans were incompassionate?

Many people these days are developing latex allergies. Something to think about before using a rubber flogger on someone, ask about allergies.

Myself, I prefer a renewable resource such as leather over more fossil fuel usage. I find people who wear leather but abhor fur to be the weirdest hypocrits ever and I've met more than a few.

Personally, I'm not offended at all.  I am still going to enjoy my steak tonight and still make stuff out of leather, and this November I am still going to shoot Bambi... maybe Thumper too.. heh heh heh

Ummm Bambi stew... making me hungry

Fried Thumper and gravy...

they do have some nice stuff there and I will not argue with animal rights activists, but my bag has quite a bit of leather in it.

My personal opinion is that if the animal is being used for more than just its skin, (ie eating the meat) and the death of that animal is done in a humane way then killing the animal is justified. Killing an animal for only the skin (cough, mink, cough) or tourturing the poor animal to change the flavor (cough, veal, cough) is bullshit with leather I look at it as the cow is already being killed for the meat, so why not use the hide for fun things
