well, technically, my doc explained that there is a hormone in the brain that is secreted to trigger the ovary into releasing the egg.....then the ovaries do their homone thing......i don't know if the one ovary would put out an egg each month, but i'd think so based on what my doc said. Whether or not it is a VIABLE egg, I can't give you any help with that one. Again, talk to your doc and see what he or she says. I had ablation surgery because of the issues with the flow, but it didn't effect the pain levels at all, because it's still hormone driven. With all the Pill options out there, if you can take one without having side effects, that may be something to think about. Yaz is being touted as the "better" pill because of the different hormone used, and now they have one that will stop your flow altogether. My doc won't give me the pill due to my diabetes, but it's not a big issue anyway.....damnit!
