Is it common to have pain in your arm pits before your period? It's not a lump, but a very sore spot in my one arm pit area...no fever, nothing else..just a sore spot like a muscle pain..

Krissi,

Yes, it is....I go thru it each month....and if you pay attention to your body, it will more often than not be on the same side that you ovulated from.....the swelling is your lymph glands.  My doc said there isn't anything to be concerned about..just more homones......and water retention......sometimes it just sucks to be a woman!!!

If the swelling doesn't go down once you start the period, you might want to see a doc to rule out anything more serious...sometimes mine is bad enough that it even hurts to move the shoulder, but it only lasts about a day or so.  The pain from ovulating usually lasts longer, and is sometimes pretty intense....feels like your being stabbed in the side.  Others, it's not so bad......usually, jsut a couple of ibuprofen will help.

I always wondered if having one ovary makes it more difficult to ovulate..? Since I had my ovarian surgery my periods are much lighter in blood flow but more painful.

well, technically, my doc explained that there is a hormone in the brain that is secreted to trigger the ovary into releasing the egg.....then the ovaries do their homone thing......i don't know if the one ovary would put out an egg each month, but i'd think so based on what my doc said.  Whether or not it is a VIABLE egg, I can't give you any help with that one.  Again, talk to your doc and see what he or she says.  I had ablation surgery because of the issues with the flow, but it didn't effect the pain levels at all, because it's still hormone driven.

With all the Pill options out there, if you can take one without having side effects, that may be something to think about.  Yaz is being touted as the "better" pill because of the different hormone used, and now they have one that will stop your flow altogether.  My doc won't give me the pill due to my diabetes, but it's not a big issue anyway.....damnit!
