winterlight -> never used toys (6/22/2007 6:46:34 PM)

I bought a few toys. I have a small vibrator that goes off when there is sound from say a t.v. It does nothing for me.
I have another toy that i have bought that i haven't used yet. I am in my 50's and i do not get wet any more i am dry.
Is there hope for me?

Some toys are just badly designed - a great idea but don't work in practice. Try a rabbit or a Hitachi magic wand instead.

As for the bit about being in your 50's, so am I, and life just gets better. We watched a documentary last week about women over the age of 65 who were sexually still active. One was nearly 90, blind and crippled, and still going strong. Another had a partner 40 years younger. Go girl! As it says in the old saying: Where there's life there's hope. Get yourself some good lube and go for it!

Of course there is hope for you!

Since your body doesn't produce much lubrication naturally, if you like to be wet, you should try artificial lubricants. Some water-based lubes are quite nice, and you may be able to find one to your taste. If it's for solo play and with unshared toys, it's perfectly safe to use natural oils (cooking oils, essentially) which may feel better to you.

Do you enjoy self-pleasuring without toys, or sex acts with a partner? If so, think a bit about the kind of stimulation you enjoy, and then try to find a toy in the same family. If you enjoy pretty aggressive, "grinding," clitoral stimulation, you might do well with a Hitachi Magic Wand vibrator. If you're all about vaginal penetration, get an insertable--one with vibrating or pulsing capacities can offer you options, as you can always turn the vibrations off if you don't want them. Essentially, you're trying to figure out categories of stimulation you like and expand on them, just as a person who likes tennis but wants to branch out a little bit might choose squash.

Don't devalue sensations that don't come from sex toys, either. Yes, it does seem a little more glamorous or fun to buy toys in pretty colors with interesting shapes, but it's more fun to get good sex, no? Some women like running water on the clitoris. Others do better with digital stimulation, or by rubbing their "parts" against pillows, furniture, or their own legs.

I do ont know if recommending cooking oil as a sexual lube is the greatest thing to do, certain chemicals will hurt sex toys, Like vasaline and crisco will ruin latex, now I'm ont saying that's what you said to use or anything,  but  they are all n5atural but they will damage toys, there's also risk of yeast infections from the product too.

Oil-based lubricants should never be used for either anal sex or vaginal sex, as the oil may coat the lining of the opening, providing a haven for bacterial infection

when they say "oil based lubricants" generally the oil they are speaking of is mineral based, and not vegetable based.

i've used coconut oil QUITE successfully....it absorbs into the skin nicely, it works as a lubricant, works to moisturise your hair, is nice as a massage oil....and i've not ever had any sort of infection from it.  and my silicone toy has not suffered any at all from it, either.

kitten, who knows this is only one person's experience....

Good evening,
When i first started nothing seemed to get me going. But my Dom and i tried different techniques and such and now there isn't a problem. [:D] . i would say try different ways and also try using both vibes at the same time, that always works for me.
  Best of Luck

I've never been a big fan of toys until an ex bought my a pyrex toy about a year and a ahalf ago. When he first gave it to me, I didn't expect to like it and tossed it aside. Now the handheld shower head and my pyrex toy give me all the pleasure I need.

I'm also going to break down a buy an Hitachi Magic Wand for those moments when I don't want to get in the shower.

Aside from those two things, I still haven't found a single vibrator that does anything for me. So, I don't think you're alone and I do believe there is hope for you. :o)

If the problem is wetness, you can speak to your gyn about testosterone creme. I know several women who swear by it. They dab some on their upper thingh and within a week or so of regular use, libido and lubrication return.

I had a chemically induced menopause at age 40, and went thru the " dry spell ". I chose natural remedies and have no problems anymore. Actually probably more moist than the period immediatly following my menopause.

Umm... are we talking about cooking oil or sex lube?

The only caution I've ever heard about oil based lubes is they can dissolve condoms and latex toys. Oil based lubes like Wet and other brands sold in adult stores are made to go in the body quite safely. I prefer them personally, since water based lubes tend to dry up on me and makes everything quite nasty.

Where there's life there's sex.  I mean, hope.

You'll just have to keep at it, experimenting to see what does it for you.  Yes, it's all work, work, work.  But there's something out there that'll make your eyes roll back in your head.

Often simple household items have more interesting uses, and they're way cheaper than investing in lots of sex toys that aren't right for you.  Have a good look at the hand-held shower, battery operated toothbrush... keep experimenting.

Hi,
i'm 40 and so far i don't have a problem but i do think about this. i know there are things the Dr. can do for women just as there is Viagra for men. As far as the toys are concerned, it kinda depends on if you prefer penetration or not. i LOVE the bullet or egg. They are small vibraters that go on the clit. i have to say also i LOVE LOVE LOVE my shower message and there is no issue with wetness with this. *giggles* Hope this helps.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: never used toys (6/24/2007 11:28:28 AM)

I love the shower head too, but one time I got a really bad case of carpet burn for lack of better word. Orgasm was beautiful intense great, and then the poor skin was just so irritated and painful and it burnt like a muther fucker, and I was on vacation, so I had to put up with 3 days of that, while on vacation. When I asked my gyno about it she said the water pressure can bother the skin.  Sad too cause that's my favorite means of orgasm.
