pandoravampire -> safe sex hierarchy (6/23/2007 1:40:44 AM)

I came to the health a safety looking for something i have yet to find.
Id like a hierarchy of sexual acts, with regard to risk.
ie. receiving anal, is higher risk of STD than giving.
so....
1.receiving anal
2.giving anal
you get the picture?

also, ive been told by medic, that if im giving a bj, NOT cleaning  your teeth, will help prevent infection via the mucus membrain in the mouth.
does anyone have any others, without the urban myth part preferably, just want some decent set of activities, along with current medical knowledge risk Think harm/risk minimalisation assessment.
Its actually very hard to find that sort of information. Maybe GBLT members, who generally have more risk management education thrown at them would know?

I'll put in what I know.  All sex has risks, blar blar blar... Now..

Unprotected Sex Acts
0) Infected blood swapping. (Dirty needle or blood play)
1) Receiving anal from a man. (As opposed to strap-on)
2) Reveiving vaginal from a man.
3) (Tied for 2-3) Providing anal/vaginal as a man.
4) Providing oral sex to a partner. (You taste.)
5) Receiving oral sex from a partner (You moan.)
6) Exterior fluid play.  (Cumshots, bukkake, watersports, spitting)
7) Manual stimulation.
8) Bestiality.
9) Masturbation
10) Undressing someone with your eyes.

0 is the worst, where you are most likely to contract some sort of disease.  The pyramid may not be 100% correct, as statistics and sources say different things, but most are in the general ballpark.  JUST BECAUSE IT'S 'LOWER' RISK DOES NOT MAKE IT SAFE! Be safe everytime.

Urban myths are everywhere.  Although I do not advocate unprotected sex, you are slightly safer if you don't brush your teeth before sucking some co-... Anywho... The micro fractures in your skin can allow diseases to enter the body.  You are not protected because you didn't brush your teeth.

Another cute urban myth: You can't get diseases if he doesn't cum in your mouth.  El-falso.  As a general rule, if it's wet, you're at risk. If it isn't wet, you could still be at risk.

zindyslave -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (6/23/2007 8:09:29 AM)

I have to wholeheartedly agree with HeavansKeeper. Every sexual act is a risk. Until you are in a commited relationship you shouldn't have unprotected sex until you have been together for a while and you know you are both clean.

nyrisa -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (6/23/2007 1:23:07 PM)

In researching the medical sites, I did find one mention about teeth. It said, do not brush/floss your teeth within 2 hrs before or after oral sex, because doing so can make your gums bleed, leaving you temporarily more vulnerable to blood borne infection through the tiny abrasions. Rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash is perfectly okay, though.

That unprotected sex is a risk activity i accept. However, there are many forms of unproteced sex i enjoy, with infintesimally small risk ie. having a man masturbate into my palm is not going be the same risk as if i then eat it? Nor would getting him to eat it, be as risky as if i ate it myself. Do you see my point?
As for waiting untill im in a committed relationship? You do know that your on a bdsm site dont you? and as such, not all of us are waiting for Mr right to come along and lay at our feet. Abstinance does not work for me. It may do for you. Each to their own.

nyrisa, i was given the 'dont brush your teeth' tip by a gay sub who got it from the Terrance Higgins Trust. But i cant find the website. This is a tiny behaviour you can employ to reduce risk. And a good piece of advice.

Thankyou Haevanskeeper, that is exactly the sort of info i was looking for.
does anyone else have any other practical advice, more than the preaching kind.
just to soothe people, im not advocating unsafe sex. I just am aware, that there is very little practical, factual etc advice for harm minimalisation, and risk reduction out there.

Of course flavored condoms and dental dams would also reduce risk in many oral situations.
But dont listen to the 'cling film as dental dam' proponents...cling film is porous!  If you want to substitute, cut open a latex glove. [;)]

Pretty Darnclose to perfect. As to the wet part: close. Anything that results in the potential exchange of body fluids carries a risk for the transmission of diseases. Toys can be nice substitutes- AS LONG AS THEY ARE YOURS ONLY. HIV can live on surfaces for up to 72 hours. If you don't know who it's been in, treat it like an infected organism.
Aslo anything that results in fecal oral contact carries not only the risk of the usual buggies, but also potentially Hep A, E coli, and C-Dif transmission. The last 2 are really ugly dookie bugs.

Claiming to be "clean" is not guarentee of anything. The CDC estimates that over 1 million American are infected with HIV, and up to 300,000- 1/3 of them- don't know it.

In 2005, there were 19 million reported new cases of syphallis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia reported.

LadyHeart -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (6/25/2007 3:04:49 AM)

That's all good information, but there are two other factors to consider: WHO? and HOW?

WHO: If you are having sex with someone you live in close proximity to, you are more likely to have developed resistence to each other's germs, as you share spit, snot and sperm on a regular basis. Icky but true.

HOW: any activity that has the potential to split or stretch the skin or tissues is more risky than those that don't. In other words, a vigorous bout of bonking with a big dick and a small pussy "may" be more risky than a small dick in a relaxed bum.

Those variables have to be factored in to any scale of risks.

Well i recently read a link to a medical website on another thread and it basically said that the risk of contracting something from oral sex on a woman was next to NOTHING.

i do know that you can get chlamydia (sp) from oral sex on a man and then give it to someone else (not sure how it works, whether it can only be transmitted via oral again or if it goes through your body thus making it possible to tranfer it through regular sex-as opposed to oral only)

So just to differentiate on Heavenskeeper's list between oral sex on female vs. male.

Also, it is 100% certain about the tooth brushing thing, but it doesn't make you safe. Listerine strips or spray, brushing your teeth alone (with dental dots or a wash cloth) can help

MisstressNboytoy -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (6/27/2007 2:34:37 PM)

I have one thing to add to HeavansKeeper's list. This probably falls between number 0 and number 1: you should never under any circumstances switch from anal sex to vaginal sex without changing condoms. Same reason you don't whipe from back to front...although serious consequences from that are a little less likely.

http://www.cdc.gov/std/Chlamydia/STDFact-Chlamydia.htm

Chlamydia does not "travel through your body" via the GI tract and then emerge again as a STD. However, an active chlamydia infection can "migrate" throughout the reproductive system and infect the uterus, fallopian tubes, and peritoneal cavity. Chlamydia is often a "silent infection", as infected people may  not symptoms.

charismagirrl -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (6/27/2007 8:09:18 PM)

Thankd for the knowledge and the link.

i knew it could be gotten through oral, which surprised me when i was told that a few years back.

HeavansKeeper -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (7/1/2007 2:40:23 AM)

I've used dental dams before... And let me tell you, they need serious help.  The one I had was literally 5.5 inches wide, 7 inches long.  It may have worked if she was a 4'3'' Asian acrobat, but she wasn't.  She was a 5'7'' SWF.  It was not pleasurable for her, and there is no suckign action.  If you suck on a dental dam, you get nothing but a bubble of latex.  No skin movement.  If she likes ya' and she's squirming and getting very wet, you'll be tasting pussy.  They also have a habit of scrunching up on themselves and sticking to thighs.  They need constant adjustment.

In my professional opinion, the dental dam would have to exceed 12'' X 12'' to be effective for a standard sized woman.  And don't give me any crap about 5'5'' = 110 pounds as standard.  I'm talking about 5'5'', 150.

just did a little research on that and found the non microwavable kind of "saran wrap" isn't porous and can be used as an emergency barrier protection for oral...though i've never met anyone in my entire life who's ever used a dental dam or anything else during oral

SaintAllie -> RE: safe sex hierarchy (7/1/2007 2:57:59 AM)

knows this may "squick" people.. and possibly even count as a fetish rather than a sexual act..

I'd slip 'farting/ gas' in as a "number 4" heaven.. bacteria straight into the lungs..I'm sure no one ever died of it.. how many people would admit it as a lung infection?

anyone want to comment..?

Oh, I think that is a common household chore for the slave.  No big gig there, somebody has to sniff it up and get rid of it.

wonders if that was in the sub/slave fine print.............Allie xxx

I purposefully left out hundreds upon hundreds of sex acts.  Given time and effort I could make the list complete and accurate, but I have better things to do.  I'm familiar with other health complications from flatulence, but I've never heard of lung infections.  It doesn't suprise me, though, the lungs are very hospitable to bacteria.  Soft, wet, dark, warm... Mmmmmmmmm

I worry mostly about the incurable diseases.  Yes, no one wants chlamydia, but HIV is still worse.
