I hate to give this chick more attention of any kind, but when I see CNN hyping an intervew with Paris Hilton on Larry King Live, all I can say is who gives a fuck?!?! What an utter waste of the airwaves and time on a show that I thought had more integrity than this.

Every night, for many hours on end, several channels show the same looping infomerical for "Girls Gone Wild". Jerry Springer displays prossibly-scripted meledrama from trashy individuals, and Sci-Fi plays plenty of giant <insert random reptile/insect> movies. All over the place are "reality" shows where someone bitches out someone else or reruns of mundane shows.

Are airwaves really all that valuable? :P

It isn't that the airwaves are valuable, it's just that you would think something more worthy could be distributed by broadcasters. :)

Yeah, one might hope. Still, on TV, it's what sells, ya know?

Have you seen that new (is it?) "America's Got Talent" show? It's "American Idol". With Jerry Springer. There's even one of the bastardish judges just like American Idol. With.. Jerry Springer. Hurray for trash TV!

I won't be watching it, because I could care less about Paris Hilton. I don't even see what people find so attractive about her. But you can't really blame CNN or any other broadcaster for putting this on. A lot of people are fascinated by this stuff, and it isn't a new phenomenon. Newspapers started adding fluff and gossip at the turn of the 20th Century. You can thank people like William Randolph Hearst for this. The irony about Hearst is that his life became the target of the very kind of journalism he helped to create. We are all probably guilty of being fascinated by some form of gossip and tabloid stories. True crime stories are a form of tabloid journalism, and I will admit to reading them and watching them when they are on. I love them, and the more outrageous they are the better.
