nonuts4thshoney -> Where can I find quality floggers? (6/12/2005 6:29:24 PM)

I like Thud and Sting. And what do I look for in a good flogger?

suberic -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/12/2005 7:33:35 PM)

Well, I make floggers and I've never had a complaint. I make heavy thuddy ones, medium thuddy ones, stingy ones, scratchy ones and heavy stingy ones.

What do you want?

There is another thread on this same topic just a bit farther down the page on this board. Here is one link from there that states their floggers are a combination of thud and sting.

BEST is to go to a local EVENT where venders are there and try and feel them before you buy

nonuts4thshoney -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/13/2005 4:13:10 PM)

I forget who told me, but someone said to buy one that has rounded edges not ones that are cut to a point. Mine is a straight cut across. Should I being trying a different one or is mine ok. I dont wanna be missing out on anything. hehe

A quality flogger easy to get ahold of is on ebay.. do a sellar search for unownedbeauty, I know her and have several of her floggers, well worth the cheap price they get on there.

Cool beans! I'll check it out. I guess since I'm new to the flogging experience I need to try different ones until I find one I really like.

It depends on what you want.

Forked tips are stingy (VERY)
Straight across tips are thuddy
Tips with ANY point, either diagonal or what have you, are sting
Rounded tips will tend to be more thuddy and hit you slower than a rounded tip

nonuts4thshoney -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/13/2005 7:25:18 PM)

Well I like thud and sting. So what kind of a tip would you reccommend?

suberic -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/13/2005 8:25:28 PM)

A diagonal point. That will give the sting, and thud when more of the fall is used without tipping you.

Thanks a bunch.

While unowned beauty's are cheap to purchase, they are NOT high quality Her knots SUCK. They are done so loose that they fall off in play (mine lasted three months!) I had to have one reknotted, which cost double the price of the flogger itself! I quit using the others from her. I'd have been better off to spend $90 on a low end flogger, which is what the one I had reknotted ended up costing when all was said and done! You need to look for a flogger with good tight knots as well as quality leather in the falls.

Have a look at http://no.place.like.home.mindspring.com/abbot/articles/jl980105.htm to learn a bit more about floggers and flogging. It's one of the best flogger resources I've seen. Pay attention to the fact that the leather used affects how the flogger feels. For thud, bison is a good choice. For intense sting, choose latigo. If you're looking for a combo of each in one flogger, I'd go for bullhide or thick cowhide. My favorite flogger is my elk. It is usually mostly thud, but I can make it hurt when I want. The next flogger on my list is a bison (either the Grand Master from Leather Cellar or a custom Lunatis from Arcane's Attic )

If you're really a fan of the heavy sting, you may want to try a 2 ft latigo tipped legree whip. (short, easy to control single tail) http://www.mr-s-leather.com/cgi-bin/mr-s/W81.html Mine is one of my favorite toys. It leaves marks that fade within a few hours unless you wrap the tip (then it leaves bruises.) I wrap it on purpose at times. *smiles* Yeah, I'm a bitch.

I have to say that we haven't had a single problem with our unowned beauties flogger. It's still as tight as the day we bought it. Mine is very tight. Not un knotting, no unraveling, you wouldn't even know we've had it as long as we have. It's been perfect and I simply love it. It's my favorite. I just wanted to add in my two cents.

Domin81 -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/22/2005 10:52:35 AM)

Ahem....we think ours are very well made.

Tips ends can be rounded, pointed or angled, we leave them square unless asked to change them as they can be readily changed later..all you need is a good pair of scissors and a few minutes.

Our handles are hand turned hardwoods that are egonomically shaped, which have proven much easier and less tiring on my hands.

Many persons using our floggers are happy with the combination of sting vs. thud that we get by combining suede with smooth leather. How stinging or thuddy a flogger is can change simply by changing your technique. Hitting with the tips is stingy or hitting with more of the body of the falls is more thuddy.

MrThorns -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/22/2005 3:51:01 PM)

Keep in mind that the material used to make the flogger is going to have a huge impact on how it feels.

Deerskin is light, soft material and can be very sensual

Suede is also fairly light, but it depends on how it's cut. I have one suede flogger that feels both thuddy and stingy, depending on how I choose to throw it.

Cowhide , I think, is a pretty good medium weight for floggers. There is a thickness variation between hides which will help determine the feel.

Buffalo hide (One of my favorites) is thick and heavy and can hit like a Mack Truck.

Latigo is hard and can do some pretty serious damage if you don't take care in what you're doing. I love the stuff as it can sting and thud while leaving some killer looking marks.

There are a lot of different materials out there which will produce different sensations, so do some research and find something that calls out to you. (Floggers are like pets. They pick you...not the other way around.)

As for places to find good floggers...God, where to start? My favorite toy maker is Whip Master Bob Clark at www.whipmasterbob.com.

A lot of good sites have been posted already, but as was mentioned earlier, it's probably best to find a local vendor and get a real feel for each flogger before you buy it.

www.rufhorse.com they are handmade floggers top of the line

mistoferin -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/27/2005 10:17:18 AM)

I own three of unowned beauty's floggers, a deer, an elk, and her largest mop. The elk I have had to have reknotted because the knot's were too loose and came undone. I really do like the floggers but they are certainly more suited for warm up play. Even her heaviest mop is very light. The leather she uses is very thin.

ShiftedJewel -> RE: Where can I find quality floggers? (6/27/2005 4:40:17 PM)

I have several from a seller on Ebay, sm85, great prices, great floggers, nice and heavy and put together well. He also has a website... http://www.flogmebaby.com/index.html
