Well, I, for one, am glad that anybody beating their child is putting themselves out for judicial retribution. In those times you so much long for, children didn't carry guns to school, but they would grow up to beat each other up, to beat their siblings up, and eventually, their own offsprings.

As for street violence, I shudder when I think of the American Wild West, or indeed, Victorian London.

I don't call that a good thing.

Someone may have already pointed this out (I didn't read the whole thread), but there is a difference between beating your child and disciplining your child. I was spanked as a child, and while it wasn't very physically painful, the embarrassment was enough of a deterrent to keep me in line most of the time. That's discipline. I knew what was good and bad behavior, because when I did something bad, my parents would punish me for it. A lot of kids today don't get punished properly, and they don't learn until it's too late what civilized behavior is.

Beating your child means hitting them for no good reason, out of anger or frustration, or more severely than neccessary for disciplinary purposes. The child learns nothing except to imitate that behavior and is often traumatized as a result.

yep already touched on but glad there is someone else out there that knows the difference

Personally...I have nothing agasint rap in itself.....not my personal music preference...but nothing against it really...but while we're all flaming eachother already..im gonna ask another question...

Why is it that when people drive by in the middle of the night blaring music so loud your house windows rattle, its always got to be rap music?? I have never once been woken up at 2am by Toby Keith singing "whos yer daddy"

I have nothing agasint rap...I have something agasint people blaring their music so loud they wake up my and my children. I really dont want to hear whats going on in your car when you are plarked three cars behind me in a traffic jam on the freeway. Im not directing this at blacks, because half the time when I roll by the offending car, its a white kid in the front seat....Im asking why is it that rap gets blared at unknown decibles, and when we tell them its rude and disrespectful to those around them....we get blamed for being racist cause we dont like rap.

Id also tell some little old granny blaring vivaldi that she needed to turn down her stereo or turn up the hearing aid....but that never happens...its always rap.

I used to be a bartender in the days of I think John Anderson's 'We Was Swingin'
That little fuckin' ditty 24/7/365 turned me off of rap forever.

How many threads are going about basically the same topic?
I am offended by so many threads all about the same thing.

OK, so, we are in agreement that no matter how many white boys listen to rap, its still considered black music, and apparently according to fairer, its the Law that it has to be blared at the top of your radios level, whether that makes your car fall apart or not. So, iffn we are to assume then, that you are going to hear loud rap music in generally any primarily black neighborhood....and I dont really like to hear my neighbors music inside my own house, especially when I have kids who need to go to sleep early and loud music wakes them up...why I was being racist when I said I preferred to not live in a black neighborhood?

I am offended by people who get offended

CrimsonMoan -> RE: Not For The Easily Offended (7/9/2007 12:52:32 PM)

well if you had read the start of this you would see it slowly but surely became out race alone. it started off as the fact that people in america are full a shit when it comes to things liek race, politics, raising kids, the school system, the war on terror. As a friend of mine just pointed out a thread about puppies could turn into a racial thing. Don't like what you read? find another thread. simple as that

Thank you come again

and it depends on the black neighbor hood becaus eit can be anythign from rap to rb to gospel to jazz to soul and funk. And there are plenty of white ppl who blare country as well - bf is one of them

You present yourself as black with your avatar. Have some balls, dude. Show your face.

Believe it or not, people engaged in BDSM may actually be in a social or work situation where it would be quite inconvenient for them to be associated with the BDSM scene. I picked an old picture that doesn't look like me anymore, others pick artwork instead. In light of the fact that Google and Internet Archive retain copies of the posts, profiles and pictures for all time, and that some of us might just want to become teachers, politicians or whatever at some point in the future, it isn't a matter of balls. Just because you don't mind having this argument attached to your face for all eternity, does not mean everyone else finds that a reasonable suggestion.

Yes I meant sadistic to the people...I like seeing horor in peoples eyes....

Quite fine. I get that. [:D]

quote:

Its not sadistic to slaughter beef cattle, its a fact of life.

I didn't comment on that.

quote:

I doubt all those cows consented before being turned into McDonalds hamburgers....

Food is about survival, which is different from torture, which is implied in sadism, hence the question.
Now that you've clarified, I see no argument.

quote:

Ever go fishing with your dad as a kid?

We all make mistakes.
I've gone fishing as a child.
Nearly killed a kid once, too.
Wouldn't have done either today.
But either would do as food in a pinch.

quote:

(im not being offensive..nor am I speaking directly to YOU Aswad...just explaining how silly I thought the comment about animals consenting was..sorry)

None taken. I was just looking for clarification. Which I got.

Self-preservation does not, IMO, require consent from those victimized by it.
Whether it's kicking out a burglar, killing a rapist, or eating a cow.
Nature condones self-preservation quite universally.
I've adopted the same stance.

Sadism has little to do with self-preservation, however, hence the question.
(And hence raising the issue of consent, as well.)
Quite happy about the answer, no problem.
