I never did trust the government lol so no, it hasn't changed me...With all the shit going on in the Middle East- my theory is that we stuck our noses where it didn't belong and didn't realize the evil that lays over there..we get what we deserve...I just wish I wasn't on this team

He dips His lid to all;

I have always had concerns about American Political Processes (I'm an Aussie)

I feel sorry for the average American who supports political action that is without ethical concern.  The War on Terror has strengthened my resolve that Australia is THE LUCKY COUNTRY (bearing in mind that Australia sends troops and I initally supported this myself) but we have been shown that Amercian invasion of Iraq and Australia's support of this was based upon lies ,  and the lies still continue.... ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

In short- The War on Terror has strengthened my resolve that American Politics do not possess 'the smarts' to lead the world.  A World Government should be convened to restrain America's intrusiveness inot others domestic affairs.

NOt particularly. I feel the same way about our government; and the governments of other countries; as I always have.

I never did trust the government, and I truly believe this country is in need of a revolution. If things keep going the way they are, there will be an armed revolt at some point.

Has the war on terror changed me? Hell yea its changed me..I honestly thought we were going to be able to live out the last of my husbands Military carreer in peace, until the war on terror and they recalled his reserve status.

I have to second the whole goverment comments. I mean i had some FAITH in the goverment, mind you this was when Clinton was in office. Anacephly (sp) boy moves in and it becomes, we have a bunch of over zealous religous money grubbers in charge of us. WTF?! More than anything it makes me question just how far they will go to come out on top I mean seriously imo maybe 5-10% of the detainees ACTUALLY need to be in there. luckily the courts are shaping up since they just said the gov can't hold citizens indefinately just by calling them enemy combatants

Yes, but not in the same way that it seems to have changed others here. I come from a military family; I have been in the military since I was 18; my girl is in the military; she comes from a military family. Chances are, I will be in the military until retirement; because of choice though, not because of force.

In regards to the government; I have no public opinion on it. Ours is better than some; but worse than others. In the end though; I take orders from ours, I follow those orders. I may not like those in higher offices; but I sure as hell do respect them.

Has the war changed me. Sure it has. Instead of living my life conflict free; Instead I find myself in conflict more than out of it. War is bound to change everyone that it affects in some small way; it's how you process those changes that decide if its good or bad.

Live well

Alex

Coming from a Military family myself, I thought I should mention...I do definantly support the war...but I support the people who are actually fighting it, not the people running it....there is a big difference.

It has showed me how stupid and how neglectfull our government is. I flew for the first time in March after 9-11, I was so freaked about flying or being near a plane before that, so seeing armed national guardsmen and women at LAX on my way to Healthrow was like being in a warzone or at least undermartial law of sorts. I have always been a bit cautious, with war on terrorism thing, has made me that much more aware of what is going on around me and who.

Greetings

I am going to nothing more than pretty much agree with what Master has already said here. My opinions about the war are glaringly obvious to most here; I will not get into another pissing match about it.

I wish you well

as a group, americans are very obdurate... it started off where we went to bars more. avoided large buildings and events, looked askance at anyone who looked to be of middle-eastern decent, most of us walked around in a fugue state for at least a week and were all overflowing with patriotism (actually nationalism, in those days we were all a little racist)... our basic patterns changed for a while. but after about 6 months we went back to life as always (if we changed, the terrorists would win, remember that?)... eventually it came to the point that we didn't remember that hollow feeling, that realization that we aren't really safe, until we talked about it and remnisced about where we were "when the world stopped turning"

The war on what? Where is this war exactly? I know there has been a war on civil liberties and I have to say I feel so much safer now with the lack of exploding cars etc.

i wanted to add that our attitudes have changed, we're not so blindly trusting of the government and many of us now are quite a bit jaded and are thinking of the government in a similar way that those who lived through vietnam and the depression did
