I'm curious if anyone here has engaged in flatlining play... I hear it's the ultimate sub-space experience but the SSC and RACK aspects of it leave much to be desired. The group that I saw doing this used one of these portable automatic defibrillators to pretend to resuscitate their play-mates.

The sub lays in a bathtub filled with cold water and ice, then is set on a massage table and pretends to be lifeless while the "doctors" attempt to resuscitate her. Of course, part of the resuscitation ends up taking the form of "warming her from the inside" with multiple-orifice penetrations and the ensuing protein injections. I'm not sure if this practice should be classified as a necrophilia fantasy or what.

I wonder if this group that you saw also wishes to engage in courtroom and incarceration play? Whether they want to or not, if the group even exists, they will likely be playing that game soon enough.

I have never heard of it, other than in the movie. I would think that killing someone or dying for the sake of a thrill is a bit beyond most people....and probably against the TOS here too.

Trying to get my head around this.. if the person is 'pretending' to be lifeless and the others are 'pretending' to use a defibrillator to resuscitate them then I can't see where the safety concerns are? Isn't this simply another form of roleplaying or have I missed something? Why do they need to be put in the bath with ice cubes, can't they pretend to be cold?

I am not sure but I would guess the part where the person is put in bathtub full of ice cubes then put on a table to be "resuscitated" is to create the feeling of a cold dead body.

I just got really creeped out writing that. But before I get a bunch of angry letters ...I understand everyone has the right to their own kind of kink, it's just not my cup of tea, I like diet coke.

Perhaps the OP is just being controversial?

one mans kink and all that.

its roleplay isnt it and if it isnt its plain stupid and a sure fire way to a life sentence behind bars.

incidently i found the idea quite 'hot' if you pardon the pun or maybe it was just the 'artificial warm up in all holes'? lol

He significantly edited the original post before you replied. The words "pretend to" were omitted from the first paragraph on his initial draft, and the second paragraph didn't exist at all.

I don't think this is quite what they did in the movie. In the movie the subject was given a precisely measured overdose of drugs, then resucitated a few minutes later. They were looking for a near death experience. There didn't seem to be anything erotic about it.

What this OP describes probably should not be called flatlining. In true flatlining we are talking pulse zero, blood pressure zero. If anyone wants to seriously discuss that it should probably be taken elsewhere. I don't think CM wants any part of it, and I don't blame them. I don't mind being seen as the kinky wierdo I am, but I do not want to be seen as the kind of kinky wierdo that I am not.

No matter how hard I want to play bondage, no harm must come. I mean I'd say "You'll be released by ten o'clock on this clock" and then back it up a couple hours. Make it where you REALLY want out. Stage a fake robbery, things like that. I mean that is pretty hard bondage and might get someone really scared. But it is all fake.

Even the fake kidnapping mentioned somewhere else on these boards, I would be game for that, even as the victim. But you don't break limits, you just stretch them. Bound until my muscles ache. Bound until I actually surrender. All cool. Just no harm.

Now what the OP was talking about, I would hope the victim is in good health. Perhaps some alcohol or something to loosen her up, but not alot. Just enough to relax, let her slip into a semi concious state. Of course a patient like that needs to be restrained. I can see this being one hell of a scene if everyone is careful. But you have to be EXTREMELY careful even for this. The victim could go into shock and you wouldn't know if it's an act or not.

The icewater though I have a hard time understanding. I can see how it makes the victim cold, but getting an icewater bath is used to revive people who have overdrank or something.

This would be a strange scene indeed, but to each their own. But just be careful that when someone is going to act incapacitated, that they really are not incapacitated.

If you're talking about one person pretending to be totally nonresponsive while the other does whatever they want, this is mentioned in the Tales of Genji (spelling) a book written in the 12th century in Japan. My recollection is that there was no defib or ice cubes, just one person wailing and pretending to be in mourning while rubbing against the other. In the book the male top pretended to be dead while his partner pretended to be sad while she climbed on top.

the only thing I see as unsafe really is the defib's. If they are real and really beeing used on a beating heart the defib can actually stop the heart. Besides that the only thing that squicks me would be the injections, I hate needles!!! (OK the playing dead thing kinda creeps me out as well)

I don't fear death. Not that I want to die, but I am curious about it. Inside each of us is a spark, or something, that is more than the sum total of our parts. However there are ways to die and ways not to die.

This is not a good way to die.

I do have a bit of a medical fetish, but not like that. I think there would be nothing better than to have the complete Segufix system. But we are not in this to die. Dying happens when you get enemies and hopefully you take a few of them with you.

I agree that someone could take this too far. Just hope they don't. Unfortunately if you read the Humor section on "Warning Labels", we might not be so lucky. Some people are just dumb. Also pertinent are the Darwin Awards.

But what is our choice ? Not to write it ? Not to express ourselves ? That would put me over the edge. Maybe not quite, but it wouldn't be fun.

See, I would almost do the real thing, but I stop short because of the risk. I watched that movie intently, something I do rarely. I found it very interesting. It is not on my todo list but if it were, there would be someone there who knows what they're doing. The characters in that movie found their curiousity overriding their common sense.

Hell, talking about this stuff is not all that bad. I still have The Anarchist's Cookbook. There is a reason I do not mke nitroglycerin. First of all I don't need any right now, and I don't want my face blown off and my house on fire. Might've been nice for the fourth if I celebrated the fourth, but it is still not worth the risk. And I simply do not have any enemies. (don't read anything into that)

There are plenty of things any of us could do that are dangerous or stupid, it is up to each of us to decide not to do them.

but that's exactly my point...the ppl in the movie..and i assume from your post, you...are intelligent, educated people who can fully understand the risk involved. not everyone can or there wouldn't be so many people who end up seriously hurting themselves, even killing themselves completely accidentally. but my concern is not only for them, but for some victim they may take with them who may not know the full situation, but goes blindly into it......
