Dearest Ms Jo,

As did I, altavista. while bok choy (mmm) was not mentioned via translation I believe there was mention of fugu and uni.

LOL I'm not exactly positive but I believe that the thump should probably be the thing you're working on removing. Practice makes perfect chia. To the corner and back. 10 times. No thump allowed.

At least most I've talked to consider underwire bras to be an improvement over using corsetry. Which brings us back to bifurcated garments and their propensity for testing the elasticity of the male genitalia. Again, I have seen examples of clothing intended for either gender that are less than comfortable to wear. Sometimes it is because it's hard to avoid (supporting the breast gently but firmly is a difficult task for fabric alone), while other times its because they were designed without any thought to being worn (some brands of finery for men really do qualify as CBT, even if worn properly).

Aside from one steel boned corset worn in the past, I find them to be much more comfortable than an underwire bra. I can almost forget I'm even wearing a corset at times.

quote:

Not that it's any of my business, but have you tried the antique approach of bindings?Depending on cup (again, none of my business), that might actually be comfy. And one gets to pick the fabric quite freely.

Antique approach to bindings? You'll have to clarify here. There are several that come to mind. Which in particular would you be refering to using? There isn't one I can imagine that would not squash considerably or allow for far too much "bounce".

quote:

And, of course, most women I've met tend to put a bit more effort into their appearance than most men I've met, which accounts for some of the unpleasantness of these "niceties". Many men seem to think the gym is the only appearance related thing worth doing. Not that a moderately ripped body is unappealing per se, but proper wrapping makes a difference, and it seems men overestimate the importance of this bit.

I am in complete agreement with you here. A well cut suit on a well tended physique is a thing of beauty to behold.

quote:

Apart from the buttocks, of course

Can't overestimate that.

LOL

quote:

I haven't tried medical scrubs. Some lab coats seem comfy, others less so. But I did notice a chemist I knew used to wear hers all the time. Of course, those were also quite full of tiny holes. There is, it appears, such a thing as "too comfortable" in a lab. She explained that she would absentmindedly wipe her hands/fingers on the lab coat, which wasn't always such a great idea when there were acidic compounds on them

Most of my scrubs are through Dickies. (heh) I've yet to come across a pair that wasn't quite comfortable. Lab coats as long as the fit well and don't get caught on the equipment are basically similar material. As for the chemist...better the lab coat than her skin.

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: male equivalent of a Geisha (7/11/2007 2:57:22 AM)

Well I am digressing the thread or is it hijack or is it a mid morning ramble....

It's none of the above and I found your example very interesting. That they felt they felt distressed at not doing their duty and service to you. The glow they felt on accomplishment was also delightful. Very much the mindset towards service I've been referring to throughout. Thank you for sharing it!

One other comment from my direct experience in Japan to the fellow who said he would hire a Giesha - I am afraid those days are past - there are practically no modern day Geisha's remaining.

As far as I know, very few remain, yes; more than a handful, but not many.

quote:

There are "hostesses" however who are something of an escort and you could find one to help you in terms of ettiquette.

I thought these were also called Geisha, though they are quite different from their historical counterparts.

quote:

Once again yuck.  I see no romance in the acedemic or real version - but I can understand the appeal of the fantasy version.

I do not see any romance in the concept, modern or historic.
Nor would I want to hire romantic company.
It would be as a social function.

I agree that the fantasy version can have appeal, as most fantasies do; but with most fantasies, reality differs.

Hmm, good to know. Perhaps it is a difference in how tightly they are laced?
For that matter, I thought older corsets usually did have a rigid "cage".

Approach "of", not "to".

But, yes, the use of a strip of cloth wound around the chest in a particular manner to push the breast in and up. With a lot of cup sizes, I doubt it would be possible to do this comfortably, though. As you say, it can tend to squash if wound too tightly, and the looser wound types do not hold a large cup well at all.

~nod~

On the theory that aesthetics are, at least in part, an acquired taste, I have tried to assimilate both male and female senses of aesthetic with regard to both genders, and while I have not entirely succeeded (yet, at least), I would have to agree that the combination of physique and dress does have an aesthetic, even if I'm not drawn to men per se.

Yes. But given that it was done absent-mindedly, it does indicate a bad habit in that regard.

How very honest of you. Although I find this to be true with my medical scrubs and lab coats as well. They are made for mobility, access, low friction, and ventilation. They also have lots of interesting pockets and hidey places. No buttons, zippers or snaps. Simply a pull tie at the waist. I grew up with them around the house and they only seem to get softer and more comfortable with wear.

Errr....I mean I always wear leather catsuits when lounging around the house and 6 inch stilletto heeled thigh high boots. Oh and there is always an implement of torture close at hand as well. Whew..that was a close one.

Hahahaa..lol. Of course you always wear super hotn'nasty stuff when you need to feel comfy at home! *grin

Re: comfy men's stuff. The dojo pants (spelling?) are super comfy, and I think some of are very sexy looking, giving free access to the jewels.
I really like silk men's boxers, and they make all types that are closer fitting. I like to wear them myself!

aidan -> RE: male equivalent of a Geisha (7/11/2007 11:11:48 AM)

I've never had a problem with boxers, it's actual pants (or trousers, for our English friends) that get on my nerves. If I could get away with it, I'd wear nothing but sarongs, kilts and kimonos all the time. At least in my own home, I hardly ever wear pants.

LadySeraphina -> RE: male equivalent of a Geisha (7/11/2007 12:27:33 PM)

I haven't been following the thread, but just want to put in my two cents - I'd love to have a trained male Geisha. I may have to consider that for my houseboy, or perhaps the new slave... *wanders off to ponder*

They do and even the ones today have boning but they are rarely steel anymore. It was more of a reference to a mishap that occurred while wearing it that wouldn't allow me to bend when needed. Most of the ones today I find quite comfortable and yes, I would imagine the degree of tightness of lacing would have alot to do with it.

Much as I suspected. Unfortunately I don't think that would work in my particular case.

I would agree that it does say something about her to a deeper degree. My comment was more of an attempt to be humorous.

What a wonderfully thought provoking thread!!!

As long as we're plotting and dreaming, it takes no more effort to dream big than to dream little.  How about if we take one from column A, one from column B....

Take Ms TammyJo's Greek hetairae, the Babylonian sacred prostitute, the English butler, Eleanor of Acquitaine's Gentil and Parfit Knight, add raisins and beat well til he rises (to any occasion) and you'll have...

The perfect wife, hostess and lady of the house a la the Victorian and British grandes dames.

Either that, or the fabled and near mythical alpha domo.

Sign me up.

Dearest Ms Jo,

There, mission accomplished, sorry for the delay, but i got the ha of my geta
stuck in a grate as i practiced. No one seemed to want to assist me, though
each time i bent down to try and free my foot, passersby would smile and
politely bow.

"Marge, why is that boy wearing a kimono and swearing in japanese?"

"I don't know Helen, but I think one of those chopsticks in his hair just poked
him in the eye."

"Poor thing, come along Marge, I have a sudden appetite for bok choy."

LOL too funny. Even stranger I just heard a story from someone a few days ago and the 2 women involved in said story were named Helen and Margie.

PS if the chopsticks in your hair are poking you in the eye then I believe you're wearing them incorrectly.
