i fully realize i may indeed be in over my head on this one, but here it is.

what?..is..spirituality in bdsm?
sure, i realize i have no religion, so i feel i have no soul..i am atheisitic by nature. i have no faith of anything.

but uh,..is it possible, someone, anyone? is able to maybe explain this?

or is it just more online hyped crap?

thank Y/you

wow good question!

if I am absolutely honest I dont think there is any one definitive answer as in most if not all of the questions asked here.

Personally I am a (lazy) practising witch and even that has zillions of definitions so on the religion side I guess its the same all over, your religion or lack of it meshes somehow with your lifestyle?

On a spiritual level I see the whole of life as a spiritual journey with each twist and turn a learning experience and each person I encounter a teacher as well as a student.

Dont think that helps much but its good to see others persepectives

be well

For me, life (Life?) is all one thing. I don't compartmentalize. So the spirituality of BDSM is the same for me as the sprituality of driving to the store...or cleaning the litter box...or laying out on the deck contemplating the quail songs while staring into the deep blue sky.

If someone is spiritual in nature and a lifestyler, their spirituality is likely to transfer over to what they do. BDSM is very spiritual in nature, or not, according to the individual practicing it.

Hi there. I see...

I guess I used to when I was younger, and to a certain extent I am sure I still do. I know I'll never be perfect at anything. Still, I think...at least for me...putting all the 'parts' of my life together into a smoothly integrated, whole thing is a goal worth striving for. When I started working on that...and letting it happen...things started getting better for me.

I dunno if any of that makes sense.

I am moderately OCD and I compartmentalize but that doesn't mean I can't see or feel connections.

My spirituality is very deep within me, and is related to all things, including BDSM. However, my spirituality has nothing particularly to do WITH bdsm and would remain the same even if I never was into bdsm.

SOme people do turn bdsm into a spiritual experience, even a religious type of life, based on how they feel and what they do. For me, it's just who I am.

well thank You all.
i guess this is a personal level thing then, and since i am not a spiritual man...i guess it is one more thing in life i will never know about.
just like all that warm-fuzzy stuff people talk about. i have not been near anyone to be touched in so many years, my shrink says i am touch deprivation..it's why i have withdrawn so much from people.... and why i am a recluse.

maybe if i ever find 'a' domme that wants me for me only, and likes to touch, maybe She will teach me about touch again?

thanks

Spirituality and BDSM connected for me the first time I felt the incredible energy passing between my Master and myself during a particularly 'ordinary' scene. I began to laugh and then cry (after the fact I had to wondering if I was just PMSing. lol) but the feeling of peace never left me. Since then, I've learned to recognise what envokes that feeling and I embrace it. I think it is an important connection between my moral beliefs and my passion for things. As other have stated nicely, it doesn't *only* come under the BDSM heading. I feel in many aspects of my life, such as when my son and I steal moments to sit, talk and there's that big ole hug at the end. : ) Spirituality brightens my life because it gives me direction subtly. I truly believe the Universe has a plan and all we need to do is follow our hearts to be led in the right direction.

For some, BDSM, in particular the SM and the bondage, can be used to focus on the here and now. When in that head space, we reach a place where we can commune with our Deity or just with the energy of the Universe. We open ourselves to the energy around us and let it flow into us. We can give up the negative energy we have, becoming cleansed. It is a very cathartic experience. It's not about religion (which I feel have a different definition than spirituality). It doesn't matter what higher power you believe in (or even if you believe at all), as long as you feel there is universal energy we can tap into. I've been in a room with Athiest, Christian, Islamic, Pagan, Witch and Druid faiths while having an extremely wonderful experience. Of course, I can't speak for the rest, although one Athiest was appreciative that we shared ourselves with him.

Em, i am spiritual. i believe in God and Jesus, and also a hierarchy of Gods. Lesser Gods, below THE God. i believe exsistance is like a stack of playing cards. We go through life, learn what we are supposed to learn and advance. i belief life is a journey and we are here to learn things. Like it was already said a journey. i believe BDSM, for me is part of that journey. Life is like a road, with infinite ups and downs, or a book with infinite numbers of chapters. BDSM is just apart of all that in my life. Another learning experience. Though, i do hope to keep it around for more then one chapter = ) Also, God has always been involved in my life and so far he has not said anything about BDSM and it being wrong. i've been warned about putting Master above God. i also believe in energy. Negative energy, positive, influencing the energy. M. fire i believe you're dead on, in that account of energy = )

Really i think D/s goes way back in the bible and even poly does too.

Zen and the art of whipping ass.

I can only be tongue and cheek with this because it IS my religion.

I'm an athiest.

My version of spirituality in BDSM goes something like this:

"Oh, god, yes... yes... ohhh... OH GOD YES OH GOD!!!!"
