Besides all the humble jumble, i agree. Go SIGN the darn thing. Em, terrible as this may sound, i think it says alot about people and unfortunetly, it says it alot about the world. And no i'm not suprised. Really, if you're worried, its not all that hard to "check" things out, to make sure the site is legit and so on. Try for one instance to put yourself in the ladies shoes. Whether you believe it real or not, switch roles and look at it from the other side of things.

but then of course, WE all know what people are like. First and foremost, if they're not getting something out of it, they could really care less.

Give me a break, Riot Girl.....
It is not that I can not put myself in this
woman's shoes, in Fact I am a Very Empathic
person, and care very much for my fellow human
beings.

But I also am a very imaginative person and can
coordinate things like money raising benefits, such
as getting local musicians, artists, businesses to
donate their talents, in exchange for my finding ways
for promoting the bands and/or business.
A neighborhood yard sale, all profits donated.

If people really did care so much about the fate of this
woman,
there are many more alternatives, that would bring in
money to help support her, than to come on-line into a group
where your might be a reader, ergo to wit the people who
write and contribute to this Fora, are not familar....
And introduce yourselves by asking for their signitures on
something.
There are such features like "cut and paste".

Those who tend to "just sign" with blind eye's, may get bit
hard in the ass, when they turn around, happens everyday
on the net RiotGirl.
I tend to chose to use common sense as guide,
this doesn't mean I don't have compassion, concern, and
the willingness to do all I can for someone I know, that is in need
and I have for many friends....Do these people, who are asking
have no imagination or coordinating skills, doing something that
would be much more benficial to "the cause" then coming on-line
at different site's asking things of stranger's? Just plain Lazy?

I hope that no further animosity is added to this thread now that the woman in question has passed on. I'm sure that many who tried to help her will be struggling with their own feelings of sadness. The very last thing they need is people pointing fingers of what they should have done differently or insinuating that they were less than honourable in their efforts to gather support for someone they cared about.

Respect.

May your friend rest in peace.

I just finished reading this entire post. It will always sadden me to know another has lost the fight to cancer. I have had a few friends of my own as well as family lose to this battle. All i can say is don't stop caring. There are many more out there with this disease...donate your time at hospices....your money to the american cancer society.

slinkyone,
Yes I know this I recently found out the a friends mother is was taken to the hospital on monday night cause she got violently ill from the Chemo and it saddened me to find out that 8 months abo she was fin and Pooof there she had breast cancer instead of a lumpectomy they did a full massectomy (sp) right away they gave her a breast implant she is also a nurse that works on all floors and has done alot of nursing in the cancer ward so she fortunatly knew what she was up against but still not a fun thing to go through she has the fighting spirit tho she will beat it.

While I am saddened by the passing of someone who, based on the sentiments of her friends, was obviously a vibrant addition to the world, I think this thread is about more than a spesific incident.

I think that the discussion which the OP spawned is about more than just this case, and deals with the problems of internet activisim as a whole. Yes, the thing which was originally written about is no longer active, however the questions still remain. As such, I'm glad to see there be addition statments of any kind--it's continuing a discussion which is very much relevent to both this message board and internet activity in general.
