I think the irc servers all have a variety of kinky type channels (ie, /server irc.bondage.com -- room #bdsm or #bondage probably), but in the last few years most have all kind of turned into the same thing -- a lot of HNG's looking for cyberaction, or a lot of people who log on and stay there all the time (you don't even know if they are at their pc or not, I think, or they just stay logged in all day) and kind of "clique"-ish. And, way too warm-and-fuzzy for my tastes. I'm not into reading about how 'subbiekins" crawled over to curl up at MistressLadySade's feet.
I started a chat room on my web site a few months ago, and made it a zero-tolerance place for any kind of cybersex, or trolling. And, women that are regulars are voice verified...to eliminate guys pretending to be femdoms to solicit money or get easy cybersex. I've had mixed results; a lot of the users grumble and go "well what do we talk about then," -- but, I've found that what we do have are more women that are regulars, and comfortable, and more practical discussions of bdsm practice and emotions. At times it can be pretty busy -- mostly at night PST -- and the chat can be great. Also, people tend to get to know each other; there isn't so much "fluff" noise and distractions from the cyberscening, etc. The best part about it is having some novice femdoms there able to ask more experienced femdoms for real advice -- and not getting endlessly bothered by HNGs. And, the subs actually talk to the other subs in my channel-- something that can lack at times.
Of course, mine is femdom-centric. If something of this feel exists on the net somewhere reaching a larger audience and about BDSM in general, I'd also like to hear about it.
