ORIGINAL: zindyslave This is the first time I have gotten them back to back. The last infection I had was a kidney infection and if my back hadn't started hurting like it did when I had kidney stones I wouldn't have known about it. Now it feels like I have another uti but not like the last one, it just burns when I pee. I have been drinking alot of water since the last infection, I haven't tried the cranberry juice which I guess I should have done thought about because my mom insisted I drink it when I was a teenager when I had a uti. If I get another one after I get rid of this one I will bring it up with my doctor. Thank you all for the advice. A kidney infection is not a urinary tract infection, and vice versa. A kidney infection is VERY serious, as it can permanently scar the glomeruli and tubules (the filters), and the collection system of the kidney. A UTI is generally a bladder infection, or an infection of the ureters that lead from the kidneys to the bladder or the urethra to the exit. Your doctor should be vigilant with you about culturing your urine when you get these UTIs and other infections so they can identify the organisms that are causing it and treat appropriately. Bombing it with a broad spec ABX is nice, but it's what leads you to your yeast infections/thrush. Your kidney infection was likely one type of organism (gram positive cocci, perhaps) and your UTI could be something different (could even be candida, or a gram neg organism.) Really, talk to your doctor. You've got a mess going on in your girl parts and it's not for us to speculate what you really have! You do not want to risk permanent damage because you didn't get appropriate treatment.
