Ayanaev717 -> Don't Understand (7/18/2007 5:22:13 PM)

Personally, I don't understand how anyone can get upset over someone who makes a legitament post. I posted to someones question about HIV. The person asked could they get by getting semen on their hand. I have worked in HIV for many many years and THIS is NOT a silly question.  What I don't get is that it is somehow deleted.

I do notice that from time to time there are cliques in message boards. Certain people can say certain things while others cannot. However, I personally think that it is completely unfair to delete a posting of someone who was seriously posting a sincere comment.

I also noticed that anyone who says they are in a professional field are often degraded for being one. I don't go bragging about this and that but I can say that I am a professional and not have someone knock it.

Anyway, I decided to take some time to think about my place on collarme and how to communicate with others. Being the new person on the block...it isn't always easy to connect with others. However, I am NOT about to change who I am to conform to others. I am not about to curtail my thoughts because someone feels insecure about it.

I have been nothing by cordial to most and a little sarcastic to others. But I saw NO NEED to delete a message that was not only sincere but true. I have seen way to many people die from HIV to joke about that.

Always,

Ayanaev

My guess is that thread was deleted because the OP asked almost the identical question in another thread, which is frowned upon by the mods.  It had nothing to do with your reply.

Post it in "Health and Safety" not in "Off Topic Discussions" here.
That's probably why.

I'll second that.  It irritates the hell out of me to have everything I say challenged when I know it to be true or to watch it happen to someone else for that matter.  I used to get bent out of shape and argue but I've just stopped caring.

I noticed that this same person had posted the same question in about three places. It is a common event that a person will take up a new identity and post some sexual questions because they get excited by doing so and get off on having people discuss it with them. After you've fallen for wank off trolling a few times, you tend to look more closely at the circumstances in which the question was asked.

I agree with Proud- was it the thread which was deleted, or your post alone?

Some people do just like to nitpick everything (I know many would put me in that category but I think I let a lot slide) but you will have to come to terms with the fact that if you are going to post yourself as any sort of expert, you will be held to a higher standard.  It's a lot harder to justify yourself and be taken seriously online than it is offline, and people are far more willing to challenge online than off.

the mods here run a tight ship.

as far as cliques- you cant escape that- its all over life IMO.

I agree with LuckyAlbatross in regards to the disclosing professional status would lead to being held to some higher accountability or "higher standard" but with a subject such as Aids (as far as the rules about the post removal I don't know)there are a lot of myths. Myths usually dwell and thrive around such topics because of the fear factor.  Fear of reasearching, fear of knowing, fear and denial that it would ever effect a person they know or themselves(to some).

People online might and/or can also argue (anywhere online, not just here)any moot point just for the sake of it, even with a professional about Aids- again because of myths or what they believe are to be fact.

I don't know what though the removal you speak of has to do with cliques though. Cliques are mostly made up of 'familiars' and merely feel some safety in the group. Cliques are not always a negative.  I have yet to see any clique (here) that would not defend your words (if accurate) on the subject of Aids, professional or non-professional.

I am not sure but I believe you are accusing the wrong people for the missing post, it might just be moved by a moderator?
