rob425 -> Clothes pin zipper help please? (7/20/2007 10:44:35 PM)

Alrith this question stems from an experience i had today with a zipper. It's the first time I did it to my memory.

Anyway what is the proper way to do a zipper? The zipper today which was on the sides of my upper body when taken off left slight cuts in some spots wear the pin was attached? Is that suppost to happen? Could it be that these are brand new clothepins?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

The problem would be the clothespins, not the zipper. Were you using plastic ones? Some of them are badly made and have rough spots. We find it's best to use the old fashioned wooden ones, but check the quality before using them. I can't say I've ever had a problem with a wooden peg, but I guess there's always a first time if they are cheap and nasty

:))

They were cheap wooden ones from the dollar store...I might end up spending a day sanding them down and try it then.

Unfortunately I think my Mistress was freak cause she never heard me scream like that for that long (took about 10seconds for me to regain my composure)

I've had similar problems.  It seemed like the wooden ones I was using gripped too tight and tore skin when they were removed.  When I substituted pins that didn't grip as tight, it felt like the sensation was very underwhelming.  I was wondering if my partner had a thin skin, or if a special type of clothespin was needed.

Ive used woden clothes pins and covered/wraped them in duct tape, then attatched them to my rope....................Love my zipper!!!  ;)

I have wooden clothpin zippers, I love using them too. . They are normal wooden type I've had a couple of unexpected squeals which the submissive blamed on the wood. . I smeared a trace of KY on the ends for those sensitive skin types, seemed to do the trick. .
There is a technique to applying and pulling the zipper, the pins need to be placed so that the connecting cord does not twist the pins together. make sure the sides of the pins that carry the cord, line up. make sure the cord cannot slide through the hole in the pin. each pin should be a fixed to the cord, just threading the cord through the hole will cause the pins to bunch up causing much sqealing. I am very careful with placement to get a clean pull ......I agree that the plastic ones often have rough edges, I don't use them.

Regards.

Ahhh..the simple clothespin....my all time favorite toy. Such a wonderful machine and Master has created so many ways to taunt me with them. We actually do a workshop on Microbondage (ie: clothespins and other clippy things). Some excerpts you might find interesting:

CLAMPING PRESSURE
Most wooden clothespins grip with between four and six pounds of pressure over an area of about one-quarter by one-half inch. This grip is between the jaws and can be increased or decreased by applying pressure to or against the legs of the pin.  Clothespins can also be modified into zippers, rippers and other creative pain toys.

STERALIZATION
Most people don’t think about the fact that clothespins, clips and clamps may need to be dedicated or sterilized. If you limit yourself to basic techniques of putting them on and taking them off then maybe you don’t need to. But blood and other body fluids can be a risk factor in microbondage. If, like us, you tend to get creative in how you take them off then you may end up with abrasions and blood. Wood clothespins cannot be sterilized!   These types of skin breaks can occur if you swat the clothespins off or if you use zippers or rippers or if your clothespins have serrated edges or are rough. This happens because when you remove a clothespin that way you abrade the skin. We tell people all the time not to touch clothespins of others that have been used that way. Community clothespins (often found in play spaces) are not a good idea.

Master like taking off clothespins with a singletail, a quirt..and once time he took off a looooong zipper attached to an arrow (and a 70# longbow). Rippers are also fun....a sturdy rod with clothespins attached. Tug the rod and all the clothespins come off at ounce. Ouch~yummy

heh...I was so thinking of replying elegant before you came on and corrected that...lol.....

~~edited to add that I really did have something to post before I got distracted thinking of comments about Archer's Master....

Its also possible to hold the clothespins apart and dip them in the rubbery stuff you can dip tool handles into

I have always thrown my pins out when done.  I too had a few chunks of skin taken off-especially if I use a crop to remove them, what I have found is the dollar store pins are to variable in pressure-I LOVE the pins from target, nonetheless I still hand test for any screamers and color code them( never get rid of those little pleasures).  what you said is great!

Joseff -> RE: Clothes pin zipper help please? (7/23/2007 9:17:15 PM)

Haven't had a chance to do this yet, sure looks like fun though. Take one of those cheep nylon hammocks, lay it on the sub, and pin just anywhere, as long as you get one of the strings in the jaws of the clothespin. Makes a 2 dementional zipper, kind of a zip-sheet.

If they are the kind that can easily be taken apart and put back together, perhaps using a slick varnish of some kind along with the sanding would help?  I've used this with wooden spoons, and just figured it might work with clothespins as well.  Definately helps with the splinters problem that I've had a couple of times.

I luv a good Zipper too! esp on balls and cock, no probs with plastic ones tearing skin either[:)]

sireninchains -> RE: Clothes pin zipper help please? (7/30/2007 8:49:45 AM)

I've personally never had a problem with the plastic ones tearing skin, only thing I dont like about them is that they dont grip as tight as the wooden ones. With wooden ones I always ditch them after play ESPECIALLY if I drew blood or something, I mean, even my own germs can make me sick. Plastic ones only if they end up ripping off skin,  which they usually don't. (Besides, even if the plastic ones can be cleaned, why bother? They're like a dime a dozen..) Plastic ones seem like they break easier too.
<3 zippers.
Oh, Elegant, exellent posting :)

It's a damn shame that she didn't check them on her hand first to ensure the toys were safe for use.  Pins are really easy to check and adjust.  You open the mouth of the pin and feel it, and pinch it on the webbing between your thumb and index finger.  If it's far too tight, they can be loosened if they're of the wire spring variety.  Pry the mouth of the pin open just a bit, forcing it beyond it's open point.  Be sure to keep the pin in line, otherwise, the two arms will unseat from the spring and poof, the pin will break apart.
