Has anyone had any experience with a triangle piercing?  I've been thinking about it for a long time and wonder if it's as dangerous and/or intense as I've heard.

I had one done a couple of years ago. I kept it for about 1 year, then had to have some surgery (unrelated) and had to take the ring out for the medical procedures. I liked it, but I believe it was not positioned exactly as it should have been. The problem is, not very many people are experienced in doing this piercing in my area, so I have been hesitant about looking for another piercer. As far as having it done, it was not all that more painful than having my nipples done. The area was quite tender for a week or so afterward. I liked the sensation during sex, but it was not earthshaking, or anything. Hope this helps answer your question.

nyrisa is quite right about this one. It's a deep tissue piercing & you ought to have good references before having one done. Worth a long plane ride to get the right person if you're serious. Once upon a time, i knew one with a triple triangle. Yes, three. Her husband wanted one, and she liked it so much she got 2 more. No problems that i ever heard of. Sorta like the frenum i had done last year, like it so much i'm getting 2 more in the fall to make a ladder. But, you have to have confidence in the one who stabs you. That's why i'm waiting months to get mine finished off and flying 3K miles, because you don't trust some body parts to just anyone.

Um, look at the message boards at bmezine.com, that's how i found my piercer. Spent ~5 years wrangling with myself over it, glad i did. Also, don't get a captive bead ring [CBR] to start, or even a curved barbell. Go with a straight barbell, 10 or 12 gauge. You can always change up to something else after it heals. BTW, her 3 were all straight barbells.

And you're quoting Heinlein. Ever read "Glory Road"?

It's an interesting piercing.  Physiologically, it's a triple pierce -- it enters the clitoral hood, goes UNDER the clitoral tissue itself, and then exits the opposite side of the clitoral hood.  Very few women are structurally set up for the piercing and worse, a minute amount of piercists are experienced in them and confident in their skills to perform one.  I strongly suggest that you visit a reputable piercist and have them talk to you about the piercing you want so they can look and see whether it's physically possible.  Then, you'll figure out whether they can actually perform it for you -- and don't hesitate to ask the piercist how many they've performed and if they have pics in their portfolio of it.  If they don't, be suspicious.  A good piercist who does advanced piercings WILL have photos of their work.

I personally have this piercing, and it took a ALOT to thought, research, and time. I have 4 gential piercings, clithood, triangle, and both inner labia. Plus I now have several dermal anchors.

That being said.. the previous posters are all correct in finding a well established, and experienced piercer. NAP members are going to be certified, as well as profound in knowledge.

Ask for references, previous work, and know what you are asking, and ask the tough questions. Online resources are a great source, as well as asking in local shops/events where you know people who have or do piercings.

If you cannot honestly talk to him/her about your concerns, then perhaps thinking it over at length is needed.

I know it took 4 trips in, talking about why I wanted it.. how it would heal, what precautions/warnings there were.. then there was an examination, making sure I was anatomically able to handle such a deep tissue piercing, the piercing itself, then the after visit which was about 4 weeks after.

Go in, look at the shop/environment, ask for Public Health report, ask for surgical stainless, and make sure to get a barbell!

Best of luck, and should you wish to know whom I use, or would like to speak with him directly *He is in the lifestyle* and local to Atlanta, feel free to contact me offlist.

Warmly,
bliss
