popeye1250 -> "Hundreds of Penguins covered in oil in Argentina." (7/28/2007 3:51:35 AM)

A Yahoo article said hundreds of Magellanic penguins are being treated in Argentina and Uraguay for exposure to an oil spill.
One rescue worker said , "The penguins have been stabilized and fed and the washing process is now in motion."

Now THAT's the job for me!
"Penguin Washer!"
You work "for the government", you probably make "$80k" like all the other govt. workers who sit in offices doing nothing, you sit around on your ass playing chess or checkers until there's a, "Penguin Emergency", then you wash penguins for a few days and then take them out on a boat and dump them over the side.
I wonder if they give you a like,....."Penguin Emergency" vehicle to drive into the "office" in case there's a "Penguin Emergency" while you're home?
Red Flashing lights, siren, loudspeaker, "Get the fuck out of the way you pilligan, can't you see that there's a Penguin Emergency?"
I mean who wouldn't want a job like that?
Problem is they probably only hire someone with a degree in marine biology,.....to wash fuckin Penguins!
For $80k a year!
Tell me some hack politician's "neice" or "nephew" doesn't get those types of jobs!
Degree or no.

Ah ,..Popeye the penguin hater. So jaded that saving little birds seems silly.lol

From what I`ve read,it`s unpaid volunteer groups that do the actual work.Sorry Popeye, your dreams of wealth and riches as a bird wiper, are dashed.

FYI, the oil companies are supposed to fund a fleet of  boats to contain and remove oil spills.Even with the highest profits of any company ,in any country in the history of the world, they haven`t properly maintained the fleet. It`ll take a disaster to point that out,but who cares about a few birds.

Really?  You mean Popeye sucked (or sucks) off the government teat ?

I`m surprised!  (....not)

I imagine it is volunteers who do the washing, same as when whales beach themselves and people have to look after them till they hopefully build up their energy and swim away. I think the marine biologist would oversee the rescue operation rather than single-handedly wash the penguins but I could be wrong.

"Hundreds of penguins covered in oil"

It sounds like the first list of ingredients for the worlds biggest cookout. Do the directions say how long to roast the little guys? How many pounds of potato salad and baked beans are they going to need to go with that?

OMG - the poor penguins!! I hope they will be ok. I love penguins - they are so cute and funny - did you ever see that film 'March of the Penguins' - that was excellent!! One of my favorites.
I think its volunteers that do the actual washing - and who wouldn't want to wash a penguin!!!
