I don't block people I just ignore their emails and posts.

RedheadGirlNY -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 6:17:11 PM)

If the intent is to send a loud and clear "I'm not interested" message, I simply ignore by deleting any mail that arrives after I politely say "No, thank you."

If it's flaming or insulting, I block.   There are maybe a dozen blocked.  It's not worth my time or energy to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed enemy, to paraphrase a favorite quote.

Now, hiding?  That's a different story.  Hiding means I get to see the profiles that I'm interested in without the flotsam and jetsam of the others.  Oh, and it feels good too.  You know, like deleting someone who's been a bonehead from your cellphone or contact list?  Cleansing, even, eh?

Red (clearly mildly annoyed with a coupla boneheads, it'll pass)

BitaTruble -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 6:34:35 PM)

I have standing orders not to let anything, ever, from online effect my service to Himself. The easiest way to do that is to utilize my block button. I'm here for entertainment and education. Posts which fall outside those parameters may have an effect on me which would effect my service so I don't go there. I'm also only allowed two toastings per person, then I'm required to block or drop the subject since it's clear that what I'm doing is not engaging in appropriate behavior so I'm very, very stingy with my flames. [8D]

Spammers and disciples of JessiePowers are auto-blocked. When they come into the light, I block children as well because I seek adult conversation here. (Maturity is subjective of course, but.. my account, so my standards. [:)]) Let's see.. Oh, I also block anyone who invites me to block them. I believe that's happened twice.  I heartily accept any invitation to block because I figure they know themselves better than anyone and if they don't think they are worthy of being read, I take them at their word. I also tend towards blocking Gorean FC's for personal reasons.

I think that's about it.. but that's probably enough since there are 71 people on my forum block list and I have no idea who a lot of them are or why I blocked them in the first place .. most of the ones I don't know were probably one shot spammers or something.

That's what I'd been doing, rather successfully... 'till recently, when the temptation to 'block' became overwhelming. Still, I haven't succumbed, however strong the yearning was.

Must show what a strong backbone I have: years of ballet finally paid off!

daddysprop247 -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 6:49:06 PM)

thus far, i've only blocked those who are outright rude and disrespectful to me or my Master. there have only been a few, and they will remain blocked for as long as i'm a member of collarme.

LadyLynx -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 7:25:15 PM)

The idea of a "who's blocked me" feature was mentioned on another thread, while I do like that idea, I would want to know why.  lol.

dawndewdropbaby -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 8:10:41 PM)

Only a few because it reached the point that I was tired of seeing their name and the same email over and over again.

SusanofO -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 8:38:30 PM)

I've never blocked anybody.

As far as e-mails go, if they are obnoxious, I either delete, or don't read, their e-mails.

I can understand why people might do it, though. I've never had a "cyber-stalker" here at CM, though. But if I had one, I imagine it could get very annjoying, or even scary (I just read the post below, and amended my response to the OP's question).

i JUST put someone on my blocked list today...for the first time ever.....he is from my province....and askes the same question repeatedly....telling my that in no way my hubby would be included....when the question was answered, i got shit because my answer didn't include my hubby....

if i have to answer the same question three times, then get shit for my answer...that i think deserves to make it to my blocked list...what do Yyou think?

TexasMaam -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 9:15:01 PM)

Not many. Blocked for various reasons.

~chuckles~
When I first joined CM, I received a nicely written message from a gentleman( I thought) that  I responded to in a polite manner.
Mind you he had signed said message with his first name which was mentioned nowhere else and this was my first message from him.
He replied that he "didn't know who the F I was, but I was clearly another online nutjob who likely lived in section 8 housing and collected SSI...And NO WAY had he written to me"..Nevermind he had no other logical way of explaining how I came to know his first name, which he admitted I was correct about.

I believe it was a satisfying block-block situation for both of us...~grins~...miss

charlotte12 -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 9:41:35 PM)

I have never blocked anyone here. First i've never been annoyed enough by anyone and also i am just such a curious person. I always like to know everything that's going on. I suppose i might block someone if they started harrassing me but that has not happened to me.

Lashra -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/29/2007 9:45:58 PM)

Theres some people who are just plain assholes and I have no desire to hear from them on the other side nor read what they write in threads so block works for me.

Do you have  a few? Lots? Entire herds? But more importantly WHY? Is there one reason that seems to happen a lot? Or lots of different reasons?

I don't believe in blocking people.  Different people get different amounts of time, energy, and responses from me (and sometimes it has to do with how busy I am).  But everyone has some value worth reading, even if I'm just looking for a good laugh.

I think one person, I'm pretty laid back, BUT maybe I'll end a pot stirrer or two to my ignore list. [:D]  Nah, I can't do that I have to send you messages here that I can't get away with otherwise.

Mystique567 -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/30/2007 6:03:51 AM)

I have block a few when it finally dawned on me that they didn't understand the word No

chiaThePet -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/30/2007 6:16:15 AM)

A very select few here;

Leona Helmsley (no matter how hard i tried to serve, bitch, bitch, bitch)

Imelda Marcos (the trampling scenes were just getting out of control)

Anyone named Paris (no one will see the video chia*, i promise)

Jeffery Dahmer (just wouldn't take no about those dinner invitations)

i generally refuse to let anyone have such a negative effect on me that i will
wipe them off the face of the forums. i prefer to fling it right back, being
such a playful pet and all.

When some approach me on the other side feeling they can lambast me there,
i usually reply once with my own take on the subject. If the "duh" factor just
continues, i invite them to cease emailing me. If the "well i never" slap doesn't
work, i delete unread any following correspondence, i see dead people.

spankmepink11 -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/30/2007 7:52:04 AM)

Due to my lack of profile, i have no problems on the other side, (it's absolute bliss) but i've never found it necessary to block anyone one either side...personals...or forums.

littleone35 -> RE: Who's on YOUR list? Blocked users? (7/30/2007 9:11:18 AM)

I have never blocked anyone here in the fourms.  I do however have quite a few blocked on the other side.  I did not block them Master did he does not like anyone trying to get with me.  Espically Doms who say leave your Master i will be you Master. I am like oh please get a life.  So they just get blocked.  My profile says i am happily collared and respect the relationship.  So if they can't read they get blocked.
