Lordandmaster -> Do male subs get subdrop? (8/1/2007 8:29:31 AM)

Offshoot from this thread.

Do male subs get subdrop too?  The other thread made me realize that every time we talk about subdrop, it's always with reference to a female sub.  Is it just that male subs are more reluctant to talk about subdrop?  Or do males just avoid subdrop somehow?

I'm curious.

yes, we do...more times than we care to mention

it comes from Dominants that aren't serious about finding a sub...just my opinion

SlaveSubtoserve -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/1/2007 8:35:26 AM)

...yup- at least i do.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/1/2007 8:41:57 AM)

Yes.  I think it's because this is a heterosexual site where male subs opinions are nearly always the minority voice heard and when it is, they don't want to do ANYTHING that might associate them with the hordes of needy clingy do-me subs around, including talking about how THEY feel or what THEY need regarding play.

But I've certainly never seen anything to suggest subspace or subdrop has anything to do with gender or sex.

I have seen male s-types in space and in drop - it definately occurs on both sides of the sexes and orientations meaning dominant/submissive and gay.  But as the 'norm' - men tend not to be as vocal and are in a minority anyway from a submissive standpoint.

That's not subdrop that's life's disappointments.

Since the person who best explained the need for aftercare and subdrop was a male submissive, I'd say they probably do.

Just my thoughts......

Nah, more like "drop off".

We roll over and go to sleep just like You Big Guys.

non sequitor...but, if this is an explicitly hetero site, can someone point me to its queer equivalent?

PairOfDimes -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/1/2007 6:52:02 PM)

Yes, they do, although men are less vocal about their emotions than women. So, I suspect it's a reporting issue.

littlebitxxx -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/2/2007 5:16:33 AM)

i would think males enter subspace and get subdrop much the same as females do.   Yes, men and women are built different, and thank God for that, but we have very similar insides. *s*    It is primarily a chemical reaction in the body with adrenalin, cortisol and endorphins flying around all over the place.  i posted in the other thread (the one that you quoted and i don't know how to do that ;) about the subject in more detail.  i just think that men may not say anything about their subdrop symptoms out of the instinctive male fear of looking weak.  It is a very important something not to overlook though, in either men or women.

Love and light,
sage

I think you're right here, although recently I've been rebelling against this desire to do anything to stand out against the "hordes of clingy do-me subs" because I've discovered it hasn't really made much of a difference in finding what I'm seeking, but it has tended to actually make me attractive to those who should be after the clingy do-me subs in the first place.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/2/2007 8:24:00 AM)

I think there's more to sub drop than chemicals flying all over the place, but otherwise I agree.  It's noticeable how few sub males have said anything about it even in this thread.

LadyPact -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/2/2007 2:52:54 PM)

From the experiences that I have had with My submissives, I can tell you with certainty that some males do have situations where they experience sub drop.  By using the term sub drop, I am specifically referring to the phenomenon of the 'low' that occurs after the 'high' of sub space encountered during a scene.  I'm not sure of the definition that michael and ross are using for the term, but they don't quite match Mine.

Yes, I did notice that there were no submissive males have spoken to the topic as to the definition that I give the term.  I think that goes more to males not being as open about their feelings and emotions as their female counterparts.

Lashra -> RE: Do male subs get subdrop? (8/3/2007 4:06:05 AM)

No they get subdrop too, brain chems are fairly the same (from what I understand) in both sexes and so they can react quite the same. My sub when he has a drop can get depressed, moody and suffer from anxiety. It is like clockwork we will spend the weekend together and before we even part he is depressed, in fact 3 days later he really hits bottom. So I keep a close watch on him and phonecalls help quite a bit (we do not live together)

IMHO, anytime there is an interaction that causes an extreme rise in emotional, physical, and mental responses---there is a drop---male or female----My boys have experienced a subdrop-----as do I---

Yes, male subs do lose the erection upon reaching orgasm.

Cheers,
