AAkasha -> Can you be invisible on the other side? Lame emails! (8/1/2007 12:05:42 PM)

When I post in the forums, I don't log in on the other side usually. I have started to update my profile, and when I get email on the other side, I log in to read it. When I read my email, I get 5 - 10 more emails depending on how long I stay on.  Most of these emails obviously are from guys who just saw me log on.  Most of them seem to want to engage in conversation, or send onliners, and hope to get a back and forth going (I am trying to answer every email).  It is clear that most of these guy just look for who is online, and try to get her into a chat, onto IM, or for HER to start engaging him by sending clever (sarcasm here) one line emails like, "How r U?"

I would say 80% of the emails I get when I am "online" are crap, vs. 80% of the email that is received when I am offline (meaning someone took time to read my profile via a search, etc.) are good quality.  Seems like a lot of guys just sit and look who is online, click the profiles, and start slamming the ladies with emails.

Any way to be "invisible" while checking email on the other side?

Good idea. . ..it would probably cut down on my "crap mail" too!

You can deactivate your profile.  Read your mail.  Then reactivate your profile.
I think it would be easier to leave your profile up and just ignore dumb email.

Stephann -> RE: Can you be invisible on the other side? Lame emails! (8/1/2007 1:45:47 PM)

Nope.  All you can do is turn your profile off.  You can still receive email, but they have to know your actual profile name to do so, and be familiar with how to send emails to disabled profiles.

Click 'edit profile' then 'deactivate profile.'  You'll still have forum access, and be able to send and receive email.  Keep in mind, people can easily respond to your emails, but will have a difficult time initiating an email to you, if you do not write them first.

Take care,

Stephan

I like the one who keeps referring me to his pet and ruffling my hair as I'm sitting beside him.  Don't know him from
Adam, and he lives across the pond, but someday I'm going to leave something on his patio.  After I stare at him for 10 minutes.

To the OP..well you could put up a picture of a really old ugly toothless female with skin like leather, bet that would cut down on e-mail traffic..and one liners..[;)]....Tempting

I do not have a pic on here for this reason, it truly tends to keep the trollers and wankers away.  I often read about these types of complaints and each one does have a pic posted,  the only mail I get is real mail.

I think you should tell them yes, you've been looking to buy a housewarming gift for your 87 y/o male neighboor. Then ask if they know of any good incontinence supply stores.

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Can you be invisible on the other side? Lame emails! (8/1/2007 8:18:31 PM)

There's an option under "My Account" that says "Hide your 'Last Online' Date from your profile details".

There is an option under the account settings to hide the date you were last online but I’m not sure this works as it claims to. The other option is to deactivate your profile that way only people you have sent mail to can respond to you.

Or post a message at the bottom of your profile "Address me as ...."  At least that way you know if they have read it.
