Yes. Just like their is a difference between sex and rough sex; or traditional bdsm and current bdsm. 
 
You can have sex and NOT have bdsm. Or you can love and bdsm at the same time.

From the Greek, there is phileo and eros. My BD play is all phileo with pick and choose from the eros container. Full eros in me has been placed in covenant to my life partner, so phileo is for my female friends who are kind and gracious enough to allow me to play with their senses-R
