It's kind of a lot of work

Unfortunately, now that Abu Gharaib (sp?) is under the gun, it's kinda slim pickings. But i think of one of the images of a naked and hooded man standing on a box, arms bound behind his back... the box tall and narrow, prone to tipping, barely enough room to stand... his ankles bound with rope hooked to the wall, so he can't move his feet to get more comfortable, and he knows that if he falls, he'll go down face-first... left standing alone, ignored, until his body starts to shake with the effort of not moving... and THEN interrogated by a uniformed female officer... "off the record", no one else to appeal to or intervene... and even though she's physically much smaller than him, she holds ALL the cards...

i think that's the kind of stuff that's worth paying taxes for. Maybe if we all write to our Senators?

Maybe I don't understand the question, but it seems easy to me. Find a man...place him in distress. There are so many ways and from your other posts, I'm sure you're acquainted with them

. If you want to find him that way, have another Dominant place him in distress and you can come save him

So they have to be helpless - unable to defend themselves? Too pure to function in the big bad world without a protector? A victum? I'll have to think about that.

A geek - a nerdy geek might do. And I must admit - that although this is not at all PC quite a few of the boys a the tech university that are from asian countries seem to have potential. Wincing. They're here for school and their language skills are not the best and they need lots of help- course part of the dynamic maybe because I am in a teacher role. And maybe I am just sterio-typing. Yet the fellas who attend my classes from non asian countries seem to be fairly macho.

This is true, I've seen these guys. Hell, I have these guys working for me but since I've taught them to use Mapquest they have seen the light.

As for a male damsel in distress..imagine your typical macho, CEO. Lots of money, good looks and used to having his own way in everything. Walking outside he tosses some trash onto the ground, a clear breaking of the law, when suddenly a deeply tinted window police car pulls up. A very sexy officer puts him up against the car in full view of his driver and posse, cuffing him and searching him. Then tossing him into the back of the cop car and speeding away. I guarantee you once out of his "element" he will be the damsel in distress just hoping that James his driver likes him enough to call the real police to save his butt.

I think part of the mystique of damsels in distress is that you usually stumble across them unexpectedly, most often when they're in the act of trying to escape from some terrible fate. If he fit the classic pattern, a male damsel in distress would be young, handsome, and good-hearted, but rather innocent and helpless in the world. He might be cautious at first about talking to a stranger, but if shown a bit of kindness - real or feigned - he would pour out his desperate tale and beg for help and protection. "Take me somewhere safe," he would plead with wide, beseeching eyes, "and I'll be grateful to you forever. I'll do anything to repay you."

That, of course, is when you would get to settle back in your chair, give him a long, appraising look, and decide whether you wanted to be his lady in shining armour... or just his next exploiter and tormentor. Or perhaps both.

On a more prosaic level, this site seems to have no shortage of submissive men distressed by the ordeal of living in a puritanical, half-crazy society that treats our desires as a kind of pathology, and awaiting some form of rescue. We're a dime a dozen, really.

Aww, i always though that the Dominant was supposed to *put* them in the terrible fate! Hm.

i would say hitch-hikers, then, especially in the weather we're having right now...
A young, scruffy college dropout, perhaps, loaded down with a heavy backpack and a big jug of water, cardboard sign in hand... the allure of the Bohemian/Kerouac fantasy lost in the reality of the scorching blacktop. A long black car pulls to the side of the road, and he jogs up, eager but trying hard not to look it. As the tinted window motors down, his relief at the blast of air conditioning is visible on his face. He starts to speak, to explain his plight, how he's tired and hungry, and an honest guy, really, he'd be happy to do any kind of work for a cool place to sleep tonight... getting no response as she silently considers his lean, rangy form, until she interrupts with a quiet instruction, a first simple test; a single decision for him to make:
"Get in the trunk"

Of course, hippies are easy if you've got a national park nearby... just go in a click or two, plant some weed, and put a bear trap in the middle of it, then check every couple of days...

This is a concept I've thought about quite a bit over the years, though not in an entirely kinky sense.

Writing a Knight/damsel story, but with the gender roles reversed, is something I've been trying to work out for awhile. It's something I think would read well, I just don't know how to do it. Like Akasha asks, what is the male equivelant of a damsel in distress? How do you represent a...for lack of better terms...Female Knigh and male damsel in an authentic way? It's not enough to just switch the sexual organs, at least I don't think so. It wouldn't ring true to me for it to simply be a feminine male and masculine female in the roles.

There's some ideas out there though, vague though they may be. The first Underworld comes to mind. Not the best story ever commited to film, but making an effort.

For Straub and King fans, think back to The Talisman. Do you remember the subplot, gleaned from secondary character accounts, about Philip Sawyer and Morgan Sloat? There was allusion to Philip's "twinner" being a peasant, a "pauper prince", who saved and won the heart of the Queen. There might be something to that...The vagabond warrior, the peasant artist, a diamond in the rough.

I've gotta go sketch some notes now. :D
