ORIGINAL: subinmaine2 That's them, the evil little squiggly fucks...i have what's called a black cherry tree (not real *cherries* but it grows (or should at this point) small black berries that the birds LOVE) in the middle of my freaking yard...it's a GORGEOUS tree and it's one big tent right now....with the fog this morning, it looked absolutely creepy...not bad if it were halloween, but god dammit my birdie friends are supposed to be feasting right now and those fuckers have COVERED the entire tree...limbs and trunk and all *poutpoutpout* My grandfather used to fashion an extended handle for a propane blowtorch to burn those "squiggly fucks" out of the trees. While the branches and leaves that are affected by the tents would be burned, the rest of the tree would be OK. And, the following year, the areas that burned would return to normal. But, that was for maples, ashes, and birches. I don't know how flames would affect your cherry tree. Of course, I wouldn't recommend this if you're in a drought situation, since the falling of flaming tents and "squiggly fucks" might catch your lawn or other undergrowth on fire. But, I admit, there was a certain satisfaction in watching that flaming, gooey mess come crashing to the ground from 20 or 30 feet up. It reminded me of those B-grade sci-fi flicks I used to watch as a kid on Saturday afternoons.
