ok....so....I have a warranty on my wedding ring set. With this warranty every four months I take it to an authorized jewelry store have it clean and inspected for problems, loose diamonds etc. So, since I've had the set, the rings have gone "into the shop" 5 times (I'll be married two years in Feb). Twice for loose stones, twice for detailed cleaning and this last time for a bent prong on my engagement ring. This last time I went into the store this guy barely cleans the rings, hands them back and says there you go...as per my usual...I looked at the cleaning job....and that's when I noticed, for the first time the bent prong. So I point it out and say to him that I've had diamonds loose in the past would he....and before I can finish saying "check the band too" he tosses his hands up in front of me, tells me to "calm down" and that he'll take care of it, but he leaves the band sitting there so I say again "check the ba..." and he flips back around with his little tweezers and begins to show me that the diamond in the engagement isn't loose so that's why he didn't see the prong and that my band is fine. I can't really convey what a jackass he was here, in type...but trust me...he was. (reminded me of one of those car salesmen that say "come back with your husband"). He decides he doesn't want to mess with the prong and he finds the manager who says to me "I'll fix this right up" and I look at the manager and calmly say "ok, but who's going to fix this guy?" as I point to the salesperson. The salesperson starts telling the manager I was yelling at him (which I wasn't...the store isn't as big as my living room so if I had been the manager would have heard me yelling) and when the salesperson gets the second "fact" incorrect I look at him and say "you need to leave now" and I pointed for him to move across the store. The manager said "yes, go" and I told the manager exactly how it went down. He apologized and prepared my rings to send out for repair and a good cleaning. It takes a week. That was last Saturday. Yesterday my husband went to pick my rings up for me because I worked all day. So my husband tells me that the same guy was there when he picked the rings up. The guy didn't even look at them or offer to put them in a little bag or anything...what was my husband supposed to do? wear em out? drop em in his pocket with his keys and change? sheesh. So he makes the guy give him a bag and he brings my rings home. I get home last night at 7 p.m. take my rings out of the bag, the prong is fine, they are all sparkly clean...I put em on and notice something is not quite right....The fit is fine, the diamonds look good....I'll be damned....my wedding band is well, NOT my wedding band....this one had channel set square diamonds and was a very basic band. My band had filigree on the sides that MATCH my engagement ring and the diamonds are round, not square....and they are not channel set. You want to talk about one upset chicky poo. Well I call em...of course they had just closed and my husband is bringing them back today and is going to have a word or two with the manager. So I've been thinking about this...how do they compensate me if they "lost" my wedding band? If they did lose it, why didn't they tell me and let me choose the replacement? If it was a simple mistake and rings got crossed up...who in the hell has mine? I also find it strange that the band fit me perfectly......
