[:D]  Morning, Wolfie..... Nope, nothing wrong with it at all! In the right places, you can make good money serving food. And it's going good here. Got an appointment at the bank today, running some errands. Yes, you make an appointment here to open an account. They do things a little differently up here. Nice though.... I like it!

beargonewild -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (6/25/2008 6:20:54 AM)

That's odd, as the only time I have to make an appointment was when I opened up the business account.

LadyRainfire -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (6/25/2008 6:29:47 AM)

Maybe it's because I'm not a citizen and my ID isn't local, bear? I mean, I had to go in and flat out say "hi, I just moved here and realize you do things a little different, can you explain to me about Canadian banking?" Like a little kid... I'm feeling like a fish out of water, being an American who went to school in Australia and living in Canada...

beargonewild -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (6/25/2008 6:47:56 AM)

Other than trying to figure out the mertic system and getting used to normal looking money, just be yourself and proceed like you were in Idaho.

Ppbbbbbbttttttt.....  Metric's easy, used it in Australia. Money, getting used to it. Wished people wouldn't mix the coins up but oh well. And I am being myself.... Ask Lumus. [sm=onphone.gif]  Or the taxi driver I got fired last night. [>:]

Now, if this were me and I came up to your fair country and proceeded to act like I were still in Florida, what would happen? I'm thinking I might end up being deported.

beargonewild -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (6/25/2008 7:18:54 AM)

I don't think you'd be deported sappa. I mean then let Ladyrain in  (just kidding)

[sm=imsorry.gif]

Yanno, I hate to say this, but yesterday did NOT put Canadians in a good light here. First off, I was walking home from the bank and this man bodyblocked me and shoved me hard into a concrete wall of an underpass (this other lady and I were trying to make way for a woman with a young man in a wheelchair but the rude ass got mad and shoved me into the wall, almost causing an accident.

Then, coming home from shopping, the now ex-taxi driver tried to short us $10 in change and argued with me about it. I checked and double-checked but know he didn't give me the $10 he was claiming. He started yelling at me and raised a hand at one point and I just looked him in the eye. Lumus was in the building off-loading groceries. Finally he threw the $10 at me. Meh. I called the company later on after checking my purse again and it turned out that I was the second in a row complaining about the exact same thing about the same driver. According to dispatch, he was to be pulled immediately and terminated.

Oh ya, friendly and polite people. [&o]   I know, this could have happened anywhere....

sappatoti -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (6/25/2008 7:47:22 AM)

You're right, that sort of crap happens anywhere. It's quite common for some cabbies to attempt to rip people off here in parts of Central FL.

The difference between where you are and where I am... you called the dispatcher and they immediately removed his ass. Here it would have been, "yeah, we'll look into it," only to find weeks later that the wretch is still driving a cab.

LadyRainfire -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (6/25/2008 8:15:00 AM)

[sm=dunno.gif]  She sounded pretty upset that it happened. She knew immediately who I was talking about. I don't have a lot of experience with cabs, having been driving since I was, ummmm, yaaaa, well, young, and usually having a car or access to one. This is all new to me. I was pretty shaken up and upset. But I know this could have happened anywhere, not just here. I just have to laugh and give bear a hard time because of the rep of how friendly and polite Canadians are. Truthfully, people here have been really nice. [:)]
