Occasionally, though, I've liked the movie better than the book.

But it's pretty rare.

It open and closed very quickly.  elton john wrote the music and Bernie taupin wrote the lyrics.  they have some really awful songs, and some really great ones.  Let me know if you would like a recommendation.

DV...you have mail!

I was disappointed in "Queen of the Damned"    , although the next few times I watched the movie I wasn't as disappointed so maybe it grew on me, but then... my tastes are different from others, I am not a long hair on men fan, lmao!

Didn't see "Lestat the Musical", I think I'll just reread the book, hehe

NOW, I'm a fan of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, sorry to hear that it was awful.

They have some really fabulous songs!

It started out in SF, and got great reviews, they rewrote parts of it and sent it to broadway where it was panned and closed quickly.....

I think the movie, Queen of the Damned only represented what..2 chapters of the entire book?  I just remember being very disappointed by the movie, but still adoring parts of it which made up for the overall disappointment.

Looking back now, I loved the book so much that I believe I set myself up for disappointment.

Getting to bite you,
Getting to bite hard and deeply
When I am with you,
Getting to see blood flow free

Haven't you noticed:
Suddenly I'm biting deeply
Because of all the beautiful and new
Corpuscles flowing inside you
Day by day.

Apologies to Oscar Hammerstein II

Best I could do on short notice, DV.

Watched The King and I yesterday to honor Deborah Kerr.

The film might have been more, if Aaliyah, who played the Queen, had lived.  I don't think they had finished shooting it, when she was in the plane crash.

I miss dear Aaliyah, bless her.

Was she not other-worldly?  She really became like that force of nature, and moved as if she were another species, impossibly smooth and serpentine.

She was good in Romeo Must Die, too.
