ORIGINAL: CreativeDominant Aylee...you could always try doing what I did for my mother for Xmas one year. I got her the usual gifts and I wrote a long letter to her telling her what I had appreciated and loved and respected about her all those years. I deliberately set aside all the bad. I did not do a "puff" piece...did not go overboard with things I did not feel...but I did try to state honestly the good I felt for her and about her. Hmmm. . . I will have to think about that. He might like that. I recall the year I brought home the Zen Garden I made in a metalsmith class in college ( and if you think making a container tight enough to not leak water with only cold connections [no soldering] is easy for a beginner. . . well) to show him one of my pieces, and he was not only very impressed, but thought that it was intended for him. Well, I really did not have the heart to tell him that it was not. I let him keep it. My point, is that he might like the idea of . . . "you spent all this effort on me" kind of things.
