abc123zyx098 -> branders? (8/14/2007 6:26:11 PM)

I am very interested in branding and have done extensive research. I am very comfortable with  the aftercare aspects involved. However, I don't know where to go! We are relocating to the southwest and would be willing to drive/fly as necessary. Thus I am asking:

1) Where can I go for good professional branding (ideally with laser or hand held device)?
2) How much does it typically cost?
3) Who would you recommend?
4) Do they typically require psychological meetings to affirm proper motive? If so, how many?

I knew that there were people in Denver, but have since lost the name and number!
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get information with people I could contact.

i would suggest you do research on cautery branding...and search the forums on the topic

I have extensive research on several kinds of branding, but I was more asking if anyone knew of actual people as they are elusive to find. Thank you

Reasearch Modern Primatives, and Body Modification shops often the local tattoo or piercing studios will have some contacts.

The drawback with branding is when relations crumble your stuck with the permanet brand.

petdave -> RE: branders? (8/16/2007 5:14:18 AM)

The only brander i have experience with is in Atlanta. i'm sure if you poke around BMEZine.com for a while you can find someone on the west coast with experience and skill.
i've never heard of one requiring psychological meetings. Anyone professional will likely discuss it with you first to make sure you know exactly what you're getting into. If you already have other bodyart, and you seem confident that this is what you want, there won't be any issues. If you're otherwise unmarked, and come in wanting an ownership brand in a very visible location, or very extensive branding... they'll want to REALLY make sure you know what you're getting into.
Price is hard to estimate, just because there aren't a lot of people doing it, and different methods have different costs... if you budget for the $100/hr or so that you would pay for a tattoo you should be covered.

Google The Violet Wand Guild.  Branding can be done and made permanantly with a violet wand.

One of the folks heavily involved at Apex in Phoenix did a lot of laser and cautery pencil branding a few years ago, I assume he is still there and active. Since you are interested in the SW that would be a good group to consider joining anyway.

The place to go with the most experience would be Fakir Musafar www.fakir.org or www.bodyplay.com . He sometimes has seminars and workshops so you can "do it yourself" with the best of mentoring available. He is in San Franciso.

Hope that helps

Funny you should mention this.  Elle and I had our Kat branded last night.

It was a five strike hot steel branding done by Jason of Primitive Impressions in Rochester, NY.

He was trained by Fakir, and I bet if you give him a call, he might be able to point you to someone in your area.

Please excuse my possible niavity here but is the branding carried out a similar way to branding cattle?? hot iron pressed onto the flesh to burn it in.

Yes, branding can be done in that way.  Unlike a cattle branding iron which is used all at once, for people small pieces of the brand are done, one after the other.  For example, Taggard's Kat had 5 strikes of a branding iron to make the brand.

Branding can also be done in other ways.  One can use a cautery pencil...which is a pencil like instrument that gets very hot.  A violet wand can leave a brand.  One can also do a cutting brand to leave a scar.  AND...i'm sure there are other ways i haven't heard about yet.

Thank you very much... very happy with your reply... the first has always interested me but I dont think I'd ever have the nerve to go through with it... unless I'm heavily restrained!!![:D][:D][:D]

The most powerful restraints are those of the heart and soul.  *smile*

Kat thought she would need to be drunk, drugged, or passed out before she could ever be branded.  Turned out, all she needed was to feel owned.

cautery pen branding can, with a relatively small amount of training and research, be done by anyone

anticommie -> RE: branders? (8/16/2007 6:25:28 PM)

On what part of the body do brands generally go on?

Anywhere you like.  You want to avoid mucus membranes, I imagine, but anywhere else should be fair game.  We chose a particularly sensitive spot for Kat, her inner thigh.  There will be a picture of Kat's brand on our couple's account (MisterAndMistres) as soon as it is approved.

generally the fleshier (and by flesh i mean muscle) the better though...thigh, buttocks, shoulder, upper back...seen them all work...even seen right above the penis or on the mons....but that was a delicate cautery pen brand, done multiple times for permanence...

BoundDragon -> RE: branders? (8/16/2007 11:07:41 PM)

Mmmmm... the idea is growing on me.... uh oh!!![:D][:D][:D]

Hisbellaluna -> RE: branders? (8/17/2007 6:43:32 AM)

they are quite fun...if i could have more flesh without being fatter (you tell me how and i will do it) i would get more brands done (btw, there is a pic of my brand, freshly done  [cautery pen] on my old account), as is, i am having trouble convincing a tattoo artist that i want my cutting covered up...tattooed over, i got the cutting with the intention of having it tattooed over and not tattooed in..oh well...i am such a body mod slut...need to get my latest tatt worked on...but this weekend is busy...taking over food committee for this months local play party...oh goody...will be glad when i can hand it back...hmmm maybe i should find the shopping list while i am thinking about it...
