When I was looking through My mom records and picked up an Elvis record and said "Who's this guy?" to My mother's horror. He was one of her favorites and I had even sung his music before this point (you know kids that love to sing along to the radio?)....but still had no real clue who he was. Mind you I guess when you are only three when someone famous dies it doesn't really have the same impact [8D]

I was working as a waitress at a Red Lobster restaurant, on the afternoon shift. I have no idea why I remember this - I am not even particularly a big Elvis fan. - Susan

I was across the street from Graceland staying at a motel the night he died, I watched the ambulance go in and leave. The next day I heard the news and not long after the outside of Graceland was literally packed with this huge crowd of people mourning. I remember one guy tried to climb over the gate, I think he was arrested. Ironically, I was there because we were burying my paternal grandmother.

I was sitting at a restaurant counter right next to him. The news came over the television and he raised his eyebrows and then ordered dessert. It was pie ala mode I think.

It was morning, I came downstairs and I saw the headlines in the paper as my mum walked past with it, the headline was 'The King is dead'... I remember commenting that we had a Queen and not a King. I was only 9 years old but the memory is very fresh.

i was 8 years old and at my next door neighbor's house looking at the newborn puppies when it came over the TV. Tina's mom FREAKED out and went into hysterics. Us two girls ran over to my house and told my mom what about her mom was doing... my mother (being pragmatic as ever) just rolled her eyes and went back to sewing my school clothes for the upcoming year. :)

Gee, I don't know where I was when Elvis died. I may have been in grade school having a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich! Lol Seriously though, I was at home watching Cowboy Bob's Chuckwagon Theatre when I later learned that Elvis died. I wasn't a fan of his music then, but in some respects, he did have a big impact on rock & roll music.

I was 2 years old, and we lived in Vancouver, Washigton at the time. I like a lot of his music, but I have never been a fanatic. I have been to Memphis hundreds of times, and I have only driven by Graceland. I never had a desire to go inside.

I was at McSorley's pub in NYC. There was a long silence when it was announced until someone in the crowd began, "Well it's one for the money, two for the show.... " All joined in.
