I was in college and working in the office of a retail kitchen and bath supply company in Santa Monica, CA.  One of the women broke the news to the whole office.  A few of the women idolized Elvis and were practically in tears.  While I like a few of his songs, I was never that big of a fan.  The news didn't faze me that much, though hearing of anyone's death is sad.

I dont mind his music.  It is not a situation like Bob Dylan songs where anybody who covers them sings them better than he does, but I do like the different arrangements of a lot of bands.  The Vandals remake of Heartbreak Hotel, for example, adds a spin to the song which Elvis never considered.

I dont remember when or where I was when I heard he died.  I think I was at school when I heard Lennon had been shot.

I was home in the house I grew up in, the kitchen, when it was announced the Freddie Mercury had died.

In the works of being concieved.

To my understanding, many schools where shut down prior to his death. Which celebrity would have to die today to shut down public schools?

On the bus on my way to work. I started work when I was 5. That's MY story and I'm sticking with it.

I was behind our garage; my dad had a little work area back there, underneath a tallow tree. I was listening to his AM radio. I was a lot more upset when I heard that John Bohnam died, not being a big fan of Elvis' music, but looking back, I like Elvis a bit more now than I did.
