SirWizDom -> New online store (8/17/2007 5:50:12 PM)

Hi fellow perveyors of all things wild and wonderful !,
Since we launched in march we've had great response to our 'wholesale to the public' site http://a1dungeonaccessories.com  Basically we got sick of overinflated prices and exhorbitant postage etc so rather than whinge about it we decided to do something about it.  Theres a specials page updated regularly, a monthly FREE competition, message boards and live nightly chatroom.
The site is growing very rapidly and Im really happy to hear what you think and any suggestions you may have so please take a look and drop me a line.
Also looking for good reference sites to add to our resources links for newbies.
Thanks for your time in reading this and I hope to see you over there :)
Regards
Wiz and the girls

Checked out your site.  Nice job. One idea - on your price list..can you make it so one can click on the item and see a pic of it?  I am a visual person, and would like to see a pic of something before i consider purchase.  Just an idea.  :)

Good luck with your sales!

Now thats thinking outside the square ! I love it, and just the sort of input I was hoping for !
I'll certainly do that as I need to re-do the pricing page anyway  as Im just not totally happy with it and think it needs updating.
Many thanks !
Wiz

Did you cross-browser check the page..?  I'm having a dandy of a time looking at it using Firefox...

givemyall -> RE: New online store (8/18/2007 4:29:08 AM)

Same here, got probs viewing in Firefox and in IE, i've got menus happening all over the place.  Your ideas are good and its nice that someone is doing something about the over-inflated prices that are being charged, but if people have problems with the site or its hard to get the info they need, then they might look elsewhere.  I really hope you get sorted out and good luck to you

Screammmsss  !
I had those probs when I first put the site up after making it wih publisher. then redid the entire site from  scratch with dreamweaver and all seemed to be fixed ... why would it happen again ?
I'll call my server and see if others siteowners are having the same probs and if they have a fix.

A very kind offer instynctive, I'll see if my nerdy advisers locally have an answer and if not I'll be in touch ... many thanks.

hmmm I've just viewed the site after downloading firefox and see what you mean. I think a lot of it I can fix ... back to the drawing board ..
Thanx again troops !

SirWizDom -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 2:05:07 AM)

... or not  :(

instynctive -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 4:52:31 AM)

SirWiz... if you lose the "floating menu" that might help greatly...  I'm actually 99% certain the menu could be recreated with CSS (instead of java)  but the method escapes Me this early. :-)

Thx instynctive, will give that a try (soon as I figure out how I got it there in the first place lol) but it doesnt answer the question of links not showing up etc ... does it ?
cheers

instynctive -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 5:52:59 AM)

Okay.. you got Me on that one.. LOL

It's probably something stupid.. like a " in the wrong place or a missed > somewhere.. lol  I really despise debugging code.. LOL

Definitely keep the updates rolling in.. it'll be nice to have a non-expensive source for gear...

SirWizDom -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 5:59:28 AM)

Im thinking you are partly right on the money with the scrolling thing. I just knocked the script out of one page as an experiment and it worked much better .. not right though ... but better.  The problem then was that i couldnt re-align the menu to top left, so I obviously need to remake a template page and start again .... *weeps*
but in the meantime you could always have a look with IE :)
Thanx for the ideas m8 .. will keep ya up to date.

instynctive -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 6:28:16 AM)

Perish the thought!  LOL  I have IE on My computer only to cross-check sites I build.. and I cringe everytime I click the annoying little "e" icon.. LOL

Edited to add:

This is a handy site to have bookmarked: http://www.hotscripts.com/

SirWizDom -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 6:51:13 AM)

G'day instynctive, givemyall, HornyToadsMI. and everyone,

just a note to say I appreciate the thoughts you've offered.  The reality is that 5 months ago the closest I'd ever come to web design was drawing pictures of spiders in webs, and not very good ones at that ! LOL
I had a hand to get the site up originally and have now had to learn how to maintin it etc. My head is really spinning, but I'm loving the challenge !
Anyway, keep it coming !

The penalty for bigamy .......... is 2 mothers in law !

instynctive -> RE: New online store (8/19/2007 8:12:12 AM)

You are most welcome.

I'm always happy to help out when/where I can...

SirWizDom -> RE: New online store (8/20/2007 1:44:33 AM)

ok Ive fixed the product (shop) page ... only 58 pages to go lol
http://a1dungeonaccessories.com/products.html

givemyall -> RE: New online store (8/20/2007 2:56:44 AM)

That is a massive improvement - looks really nicely set out and easy to follow..... looking forward to see the rest of the site when you have tweaked it.

It's terrible having to redo stuff when you think its all finished, I know lol.... Ive got about 2300 products on one of my sites and I had to redo about 1000 of them when there was a problem with the product codes on upload... I was ripping my hair out for days [:D]

I'm sure it will all be worth it for you and again 'good luck'
