On news radio out of Dallas I heard that law enforcement just ran a conference to aid local police departments to crack down on slavery. The actually interviewed law enforcement officials who were shocked at the prevalence of slavery. How appalled they were to learn that a slave can be purchased for $90.

To help police investigate slave situations, they listed warning signs that would give police officers a heads up on potential slave situations. These being high privacy fences, trash and junk strewn around the property, and a high number of people living in a single house.The big one was how so many of these slaves are used for sex, implying forced prostitution.

So, Texas slaves may have local law enforcement fighting to liberate them and owners would have their doors knocked down and be carted off to jail because their fence is too tall, they did not clean up the trash that blew in over the weekend, and more than one person lives in a single house.

I presume that you know the difference bewteen the forced sexual slavery that is rampant in the world today, and the slave role as seen in What It Is That We Do?

The police are looking for the former.

Of course I do, but I doubt that a Police officer would even consider such a distinction

And what makes you think that there are no lifestyle people in DFW with law enforcement jobs that would not offer advice on such a situation or lifestyle choice? For that matter nurse, doctors, counselors. We have a pretty diverse and informed lifestyle group here in DFW. that information that you were discussing is more on the level of "sexual prostitution" and the individual being enslaved in it against their will. don't try to mix the word "slave" with the lifestyle every time the media uses the word.

I'm thinking they'd probably make a distinction between people trafficking and a "kinky lifestyle."

I am familiar with the idea of 'moral panic'. That a rather innocent situation gets blown totally out of proportion and people go running around half crazed that the collapse of decent society is at hand.

What would you call the opposite? Immoral panic?

The news report I heard was that they were cracking down on slavery by targeting immigrant trafficers (spelling) and the "sweatshop" type facilities. This is nothing to do with the lifestyles most people on here lead. From a law enforcement point of view, most (but I am sure there are still some bad people out there) slaves like you see here is perfectly legal as long as its consentual on all accounts.

You doubt that the police would consider the difference between something being legal or illegal before arresting someone?

I know enough cops to know that they're smart enough to figure out the differences between your naked chick tied to your bed with a buttplug crammed in her crack and a trailerload of chinamen cooking at 110 degrees on a hot Houston highway. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.....

yep i aint got a spell checker but if you care about the slavery thing you may want to read the mann act in its fullness and see that congress determined to this fact years ago part of the reason i live in canada

Almost 100 years ago, actually. IIRC, the current version of the Mann Act prohibits the transportation of minors for sex, or adults for criminal sexual activities.

I think cops are just better paid criminals but only an idiot would think a cop couldn't tell the difference between perverts and pimps.

Knowing a Cop personally, and rather well, who also happens to be involved in BDSM ...I'm certain that he would assure all that the "Cops" in general, as SM said "can tell the difference between pimps and perverts".

cops are people too...some are jerks....some are saints....some like donuts...some don't.

i've met some hot cops...and i've met some cops that i wanted to show them what to do with every piece of equiptment on their belt and not in a nice way......but none of them were stupid....

Now my brother is a cop and I've had many cop submissives. I do have to say that regardless of the fact that there are many cops in the lifestyle, there are also many that don't approve or understand it. I've been warned explictly by my brother that it is totally legal for a cop to arrest a dominant for "assault" and a submissive for "accessory to their own assault" Even if both parties claim they are totally consensual. My brother works in a jail and has seen it happen. A close friend of mine had a doctor report that he was being abused after seeing 3 day old snake whip bruises on his back and cops showed up at his doorstep trying to arrest his Dominant girlfriend. When he tried to say he had asked her for it, they tried to have him committed. Then again, I've had it happen that my Master was spanking me and someone called to say they could hear me crying "ouch ouch" and when the cops showed up and I explained things to them (I was being spanked rather forcefully) one cop jokingly told the Master "well gag her or something so the neighbors dont call us again)

I am not saying that this particular news brief was about the same thing. Only that We in the lifestyle cannot be blind to the predjudices of others. Nor can we try to group all "law enforcement" in the "they're out to get us" catagory. Only be sure to play with caution, be careful who you confide in, and if the law gets involved and you get arrested - KEEP your MOUTH shut until you have a lawyer. And that my friends comes directly from my cop brother!
