Based on the amount of incredibly personal, serious advice people ask on here, it started to occur to me that there must be some level of trust.  Apparently there isn't, so I am wondering why people ask for advice from random strangers on such serious matters of health, fidelity, etc.

Advice, once given, is filtered through your own experiences and knowledge and can be taken or left as you see fit- i don't think there has to be any real trust involved, because you can just as easily walk away from everything offered.

Completely different than placing someone or something you care about in the hands of another and leaving them unattended.

Analogy fail!

Ild meet a random person here in a public place for coffee. As to giving them a key to my house- no way.

BTW- there are some very nice people on this board!!!!   I met a few good friends this way. I wouldnt automatically put this crowd in the time square mob!

If names were randomly drawn out of a hat (names of people that post on these forums), would you trust a random person (you do not get to choose) from this message board to:

* Babysit your small child (under 5 yrs old) for a weekend?

* Top/dominate your girlfriend or sister?

* Take care of your pets for one week?

* Go on a blind date with your best friend?

Akasha

Of course not, especially where my child is concerned, for all of the above.  That is no different than walking down the street and randomly choosing strangers by appearance to perform the designated tasks.  The internet is all about appearances, and I believe the popular phrase, "You can't judge a book by it's cover," fits in this situation.

As an addendum to the above, there are people that I trust implicitly on this site.  They, however, aren't "random".
