As a society, we have agreed that there is such a thing as "to kinky." After all, there are certain things we can not mention here on CM.  We can go to prison for participation in most of these unmentionables.

Anyhow, I have been turned down on dates and relationships on the basis of being "To Kinky."

Yup! Right here, baby! [8D]
Seriously, though... for a guy, it's easy to be "too kinky"... just ask an Adult Baby, or a heavy rubber fetishist... there are a lot of kinks that are highly limiting/inconvenient. For a woman, maybe not.

DaddysDirtyBitch -> RE: Is there such a thing (8/29/2007 2:45:47 AM)

What a wonderful question for me to choose as my first post ;-)

I am new to collarme and to the lifestyle in the real world. Fantasies have kept me alive for nearly 40 years, now it is my time to live and play in the wondrous real world.

I grew up in what many considered a deviant household ... for years I fought my own kink because those many told me I was a deviant too.

Well ... I now have a wonderful Daddy that not only gets off on the kinks I've lived out, but looks forward to experiencing my unrequited kinks with me.  He is the ONLY one that knows about the majority of my kinks ... and I admit that there are probably a few still lurking below the surface that I'm not ready to share with even him yet.

To directly answer the question .. NO ... I don't think that there is such a thing as too kinky.  However, I feel that our kinks need to be explored in the right environment ... a safe and supportive environment.  I can't imagine finally living out a deep buried kink only to be belittled for it.  In my opinion. choosing the right life or play partners is crucial to a happy kink life.

Thanks for letting me share.

One person's kink is another's hard limit.  So I guess it all depends on who you ask.  To answer the original question:  no...depending on who you ask ;)

Yes. No. Maybe.

OP isn't very clear. What's kinky to you is vanilla to me and a hard limit to someone else. And permutations thereof.

Cope.

Your screenname is a beautiful song by Fiona Apple.  The real question:  is there such a thing as too much Fiona?  Answer: no.

The definition of too kinky is based on individual perspective.

Perplex -> RE: Is there such a thing (8/29/2007 11:49:17 AM)

the answer to 'is there too much kink' is one of those grammar thingies

first person: yes *I* stop HERE
second person: yes *YOU* should stop HERE
third person: no if a partner can be found for it, then do it

In my mind yes. Certain things (who are usually illegal anyways) I do consider too kinky because they by default cross the line of consensuality. That would be things involving children, animals, deceased people etc. I have no doubt that in that person's mind it is extremely kinky, But when the kink has crossed a morality (and legality) line then it is by my own definition too kinky.

You know that tieing someone up and beating them with your hand, an object such as a paddle, flogger, crop, whip etc is illegal in most areas though right? It's called illegal confinement and assualt.

A person can not legally consent to abuse. Ergo, even if you love it, the person doing the beating can be charged. And with the laws out there for domestic abuse cases, the one being beat doesn't even have to agree to the charges, the police can charge the perpetrator themselves.

So where do you draw the line as to which illegal activities are ok and which aren't?

I totally agree with the not crossing the line of morality, but again my moral line will not be the same as someone elses.

Kind of a major catch 22 really.

Not every one practises SSC, nor does every one who's kinky have to.

If you can think it do it and its SSC ......... no  [;)]

If you can define the difference between kink and pure stupidity-why would this ever be an issue?

I'll second that motion!

Celeste43 -> RE: Is there such a thing (8/30/2007 5:28:35 AM)

I think there is. Not in the sense of liking illegal things but in preventing one from finding a partner. If you have several specific fetishes, ie must always wear 6" heels even to the gym, must never wear panties even during menstruation, etc you are going to have a hell of a lot of difficulty finding anyone willing to go along with you.

You don't go hiking in heels, you don't go to the pool with your mother with SLUT written in permanent marker on your upper back. Someone who insists on things that make life unworkable for a partner isn't likely to have that partner very long.
