How do I clear the: "Users who have recently viewed your full profile:" from long past observers so I can see any new observers as they might appear?

You can't clear them. The new "views" appear at the top. If you pass your cursor over the names, it tells you the date you were viewed.

Okay, this is a bad sign. All of my views predate the birth of the Internet. :)

They drop off the bottom in chronological order when you get about 70 or so

i really wish there was an option not only to delete viewer names from it, but to set a way so that only those in a criteria would be able to view profiles. that would be awesome

You still wouldn't be safe from the men viewing your profile.  As soon as they made an option like that, the number of fake browsing accounts would jump, which would just spam up the site.

As for the OP, just view your own profile to "clear" it, and only look for names that appear above yours in the list.

Omg I would hate that!  I love pervig peoples profiles. 99% of the people I am looking at are in no way a potential match but still very interesting to see how folks express themselves, to check out journals and make new friends.

Me too...If some one said some thing interesting I figure the person is some how interesting and will look at their profile. And I must admit I have met some pretty cool people that have just browsed my profile out of curiosity.
I am leery of emailing viewers that are female and married but I will talk to anyone that emails me.

Well, we should all know by now there's very little I won't do in order to make the joke work. :)
