Agreed, I am not always the most empathetic person, depends on the people involved and the situation. I think that, in fact, the older I have gotten the colder I have gotten. Not much gets to me anymore. Sure, I have my buttons but they involve people that I love deeply. Those are few and far between. I am probably going to be more saddened by an abused animal than an aquaintance standing in front of me crying because their favourite grandfather died. In fact I know I will be because that scenario happened this week. Yet I know others, of various ages, a woman that is 50, one that is 48 and another that is 23, that were all brought to tears by it. Just don't ask me to hear a child abuse story or watch that godawful animal cop show on animal planet. Again, age in years has nothing to do with it.
