I made a ankle & wrist spreader bar today as suggested by InkedMaster...
then some Harleys showed up... well let's just say I never got to take the camera out.
I'll post the results of the work tomorrow.

Well we know where your priorities are!...grins...On the same shelf as mine!

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! As promised, here are the spreaders using the combination locks as suggested by InkedMaster.They are made from 3/8 Stainless Steel with 1-1/2 OD free swiveling SS rings at each end.Not as sturdy as a solid bar would be but a novel idea that might add some play into an old standard.They will probably go up for sale, if any of you are interested in them, let me know.Along these lines, I will make a wrist cuff to neck collar attachment without the locks next.As always, I always appreciate your comments, after all you are the ones that field test my items.http://www.ringofsteel.net/images/spreader-merge.jpg

Vad;

There is an idea afoot for a shocking device. It's in the forum but I'll describe what I need here.

Locking bracelets, but with strong magnets mounted in them. These would trigger a Hall Effect device in the shocker unit to keep the subbie's hands away from the "forbidden" area.

Think you can do something ?

T

I really like that idea!

However, I was wondering: when combining electricity play with metal restraints, aren't you running the risk of the 'shock' dispersing throughout the entire restraint?

That lock sure looks like a weak point in the bar.  Would the unit not be stronger overall if the lock element was close to one end?

Incidentally, I've been working on a modular spreader-bar system for mutiple configurations, and have run into a very similar problem with the joints being weak.  I'm still looking for a means of strengthening them that doesn't double the cost of the bar.

Yes you are correct, the weakest point is the lock as I stated. But moving the lock just relocates the weak point. This was just something that came about due to a discussion in here. The next day, I made a solid Stainless steel T-Bar with rings instead of the locks that is much stronger. I enjoy the feed back and maybewe can come up with some cool new toys. Just think what the internetcould have done for other inventors, da Vinci, Tesla, Edison, etc.I'm not in their league by any means but having fun with this.

Thanks, I try and make different things,

I overbuild everything I make. But I start my engineering with the function in mind-and esthetics take a back seat to that.

Im bad about over building things too...but then I do furniture....there have been several times where I have sat back to admire an entertainment center or bookshelf only to realize its going to take 5 pro-wrestlers to carry it out of my barn......
