Master is looking for a small keyed padlock.  This padlock must be suitable for all conditions, wet, dry, etc.  Plated metals are not good as the plating will soon come off (my skin absorbs the metal).  The 20mm Master padlocks have a hasp that is too thick.  He would also like it to have rounded edges as it's for sleep time as well as day time.  Preferably the padlock would be smaller than the 20mm ones but certainly no bigger.  If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.

Regards,
spicey

Not sure if this may help. There are some small locks on this site. You may also look into anyone that deals in "miniatures, even lock collectors. Good luck.

hi spicey,
did you see the ones W/we had at Chains Market Day? they are quite small and the heart shaped ones don't have any sharp edges.

You can see pics of them on our website www.mjstoybox.com.au on the fasteners page.
cheers,
MJ's girl

Yes, we did look at the ones you have for sale but they aren't suitable as they are plated locks.  I simply can't wear plating.  Within a couple of weeks all of that lovely shiney nickel will be gone.  Master is looking for something quite sturdy, durable, non plated and his preference is for unique keys.  But thank you for pointing out the website as I hadn't visited it before.

cheers,

We use a Master 3/4" (15mm) wide, covered padlock. It came in a pack of 4, all 4 keyed alike but not keyed to match other the locks in other packages. One lock for my collar, one lock for boi Lane's collar..and two locks for my locking shoes. Having the same key for all four locks makes is easy for him. The lock components are solid brass for maximum corosion resistance and the cover is a black synthetic. I have slept in it, swam in it, done most anything in it. grin

I second the locks that Elegant is referring to. Awhile back I actually contacted MasterLock to see if it was possible to order like 20 of those locks all keyed alike. I wanted all of my locks on my play partners, partners, in my toy bags, and property to be the same. Unfortunately, it is not at this time, however, if enough of us kinky folk ask for them, they may make that an option. Only the small brass locks are available from their industrial/commercial distributors. The coating on those locks is awesome, they don't ever wear down and the set of four can be found at most hardware stores or even target for $10-$20.

I am not sure if any padlock is really water/weatherproof without some maintenance.   I have used a silcone grease to waterproof outdoor and automotive electrical contacts.   If for instance, the lock is for a collar that is locked on semi permanently, I'd change locks periodically and lubricate them again for future use.

I'm just retentive that way.....

I'll try this again using my own account instead of Master Archer's account. ....grin~grimace

True...as with most anything proper cleaning and upkeep is necessary. I have had the same padlock for 8 years but I do clean it and  spritz it with WD-40 (water displacement) sporadically .

Thank you to everyone who wrote in.  Master has found a 15mm padlock now with a shackle thin enough for the chain (not the black Master ones, which he would probably like better but we didn't find those.  I will tell him they come that small and he may keep an eye out for them).  This is a set of four Burg Wachter brass padlocks, for anyone else needing something similar.
