I am totally clean of STD's and everything else.. and i want to stay that way, and i guess my biggest problem with being a sub/slave is that you can never really trust that Everyone is..

STD's are not a lifestyle issue exactly. You have to be just as careful in a non-lifestyle relationships. On top of everything else, not all that practice that lifestyle do so in a way that includes even the possible exchange of body fluids, or contact in away to spread STD's.

In the lifestyle, as well as out of it, don't rush things. Get to know your partner. Use precautions, and get tested. If you have something that can be spread, tell your prospective partner. Let them be informed on your condition and the ways it is spread, plus the ways thing can be done safely without spreading it (if that is possible).

Of course, this all boils down to dealings with people who have the integrity to be honest, and who understand that there are some that may not be willing to risk whatever it is they have.

subangel, you don't need to know that everyone is free of any STD. You only need to know that the One you are interested in is. Getting to know and trust this person before anything physical happens is the best way to go.

I concur,
If you're going to engage in a sexual relationship get to know the person first. By all means get checked out. Ask them to as well. If they refuse then are they really the person for you in the first place?

A few years back in California here. We had a fem sub going around spreading herpes. She denied ever having it even though her positive med records were being sent around the local scene by her ex Dominant. I believe she was in Arizona the last I heard. The fact is though, you can have sex with anyone. If they want to have sex bad enough they are going to lie to you.

Last count was something like 23 people tested positive with herpes.
For those of you in California now, nothing to fear this was at the minimum 3 to 4 years back.

So many people don't know that they have an STD that saying they are clean may not be true, especially if they have had more than one partner. The non wart varieties of HPV have no symptoms in men and so they pass it unknowingly. The problem is that about 10% of women who contract it develope cervical dysplasia (abnormal pap) which can lead to cervical cancer if not treated. I have read that about 75-80% of the sexually active population has some variety of HPV. The other problem is that condoms don't prevent HPV because it is transmitted by skin contact.

I know I'm clean, but that's only because the last time I had sex, STDs had not yet been invented.

You always have the right to see the test results of any partner, vanilla or D/s. If they refuse to show or refuse to be tested. Move on. Anyone who has had multiple sex partners needs to be checked at least once every 6 months. BUT all play is not sexual. Just make sure the toys are cleaned correctly. Get to know your prospective partner, all of life is a gamble, just make it as safe as possible. Sundew

And even then - the tests are kinda moot if there has been sexual contact within the last 6 months that they've been treated.

All it means is that the last time they were tested they were clean, doesn't mean that they are clean in the here and *now* - especially if they have had sexual contact since the last test.

I hate to duisagree with Estring, but there are others subangelo4 must be concerned with. If her master takes other subs she must be sure of them. If he collors one she must be sure the new slave does not cheat. She can trust the Master but he's only human. Everyone gets fooled.

sarbonn,

The last time you had sex was in 1491? (In 1492 Colmbus sailed the ocean blue. The "Indians" got small pox. The Europeans got syphlitic cocks.)

I gave up sex for Lent.

The older I get the more difficult it is to remember what year that was.

p.s. Iwill, I personally believe that syphilus was around in the Old World for a long time before 1492. From what I understand, it is a disease that vectored from sheep to humans in the dawn of man.

I dont trust that the people I play with are STD free. But that's why they make condoms. If STDs are a concern for you...as I think they are a concern for most everyone...its important to explain those concerns to the people you play with and to ensure that you are taking the steps that you feel are appropriate to avoid STDs.

Actually, it seems a bit longer than that.
