Lets discuss about femdom in India, how it is now, how it should be and personal sharings.

If I dont see any response, I want to delete this topic from forum.

i think female domination from a religious perspective in india could be interwoven with sakta tantra and other goddess-worshipping forms of religion. i also think it could be very much interwoven with ecology and the way the environment is viewed, because traditionally in hinduism, prakrti or nature is viewed as female and, like women in hindu society, is mostly viewed as being the giver but not necessarily receiving anything in return. sakta turns that on its head by putting women as the object of reverence and reciever of worship/sustenance (although doesn't entirely remove the giving aspect for the feminine). just a couple thoughts.

article that got me thinking about this, if anyone's interested: "sacred immanence" by rita dasgupta sherma, from purifying the earthly body of god ed. lance e. nelson, pp.96-97.

Hi Roksana

Interesting topic (I think so anyway) - but one which I'm not well equipped to comment on I'm afraid. Would it be possible for you to give us some background perhaps?

HAB posted some interesting stuff too from my point of view. I'm very much interested in Asatru - which is a distant relation of Hinduism which existed as the religion of the Norse and Germanic peoples before Christianity, and is now on the rise again. Its unique as a pre-Christian European religion in that so much of it remains that it can be reconstructed, whereas others were so utterly destroyed by the Church that much invention has had to be undertaken to reproduce them in the modern world.

We have several Goddesses in Asatru - and in my view at least, Freyja is the one who comes closest to being a possible source for religious worship of the Female, along the lines of what I seem to remember occurs also in Hinduism. It would be interesting as a related religion to learn more about Goddess worship within Hindu culture as it might be relevant to the same within Asatru. Why this is important, is in that Asatru so far in its reconstruction at least has been heavily concentrated on the male deities and disproportionately represented by males. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but it tends to unbalance the religion as a whole.

greetings everyone,

i have a list of excellent books on goddess worship and female renunciation in hinduism, if anyone is interested. i thought since this topic is kind of leaning in that direction i would go ahead and post. these should be available through amazon or your local university library.

is the goddess a feminist?  - ed. hiltebeitel & erndl
victory to the mother - kathleen erndl
seeking mahadevi - ed. tracy pintchman
women in ochre robes - meena khandelwal
the goddess lives in upstate new york - corinne dempsey
the graceful guru - ed. karen pechilis

seeking mahadevi and victory to the mother are my personal favorites, although i think is the goddess a feminist? is more geared towards associations between goddess spirituality and feminism, which might be easier to relate to female domination.

greetings lady ellen,

as usual your posts are enlightening :) i do not know much about asatru - i have been in group ritual with some asatruar, but have very little exposure to it. i am always interested in comparative goddess spirituality, though, particularly in european pagan traditions and hinduism, so i found your post very interesting. thank you!

respectfully,
annabelle.

LadyEllen -> RE: Femdom in India (9/18/2007 3:08:51 AM)

Thanks AnnaBelle!

This is something I recall reading about twenty years ago now - unemployment, nothing much to do, a public library and an interest in comparative religion! It concerned the initiation of male priests in Hinduism into the service of one of the Goddesses - does anyone know more? My recollection may not be that good!

Basically, the would be priest had to live with a young lady (a virgin) for several weeks, and serve her as a slave. The first week he had to sleep outside her room, the next on the floor of her room, the next in her bed but not touching her, the next in her bed in her embrace - and at no time was he permitted any form of sexual relief or act. If he passed this test, then he could enter the service of the Goddess in question.

This reminded me in a way of the Gallae initiations, where would be male priests would castrate themselves to enter the service of a Goddess - something also mentioned in north European tradition where male priests of the Goddess, after pulling her wagon through the land would castrate themselves to enter her service.

The similarity I see, is that in both cases the male is revering the female in an erotic but not sexual way, holding her as a being far above the object of the "base" passions which he feels for her, sacrificing his power to her service.

Hi Lady Ellen

I am in female domination in reallife, and turned my stepbrother into my slave and dog long back and still his position is that. But I dont do lot of things infront of others like get him kiss and lick my feet and shoes etc.

There are half a million hijras in india that have become eunuchs in service to their Goddess.  i am sure in most cases, it is because they are too poor to have a full sex change and feel more female than male.  as i, they would rather be neither than male and ebrace a life of poverty, becomming beggers and prostitutes, rather than try to live as a male.  i can sure sympathize with the hijra, as i hate the fact that i am male, but have come to grips with societies narrow minded views to the point to realize i have to be this way.  i cannot become what i am not, and i am not female (inside) either.  at least in India, there is some minor (socially unacceptable but attainable) options not available here.

Mistress Roksana,

i think the issue of male submissives in india is a topic which is swept under the rug. I think there need to be more r/l  sessions and let the male submissive discover and enjoy his submissive side.

Regards,

Dear Ms. Roksana,

First of all, thank you for bringing up the topic!

To add to the discussion on how Femdom is at present in India, i'd say that there is certainly much more than meets the eye! With a fast-growing economy and a rapidly changing culture, more and more Indian women are now participating in spheres of life that involve control, decision-making and leadership. In fact, they have done the country proud by taking up leading positions in various organisations/processes.

With such involvement of women in the changing process, a lot of men have apparently begun to realise that things are only improving. In fact, we admit that women are far better at everything that involves using intelligence! We, on the other hand, are better equipped to handle other activities such as those related to housekeeping, providing care and service. This may be one reason why men do well in such spheres once they have been trained!

Now that we have accepted our modified role in society as the supporter and no longer the primary earner, things have obviously begun to change at the domestic level as well. It is now common to see newly married husbands walking behind their wives, speaking to them softly and politely and seeking permission for almost everything! It's almost like seeing women walking around with dogs on a collar and leash, except that the dog is replaced by a human and the collar and leash aren't visible! And i must mention that these men may not look too comfortable in front of other men, but deep inside they experience a rare form of bliss!

Speaking of my own experiences, i have always been dominated by the women in my life, whether it was a classmate, a school teacher, my girlfriend or my mistress. And it never bothered me that i was different from the rest, because i was in fact glad to have been born the way i am! Offering myself in all sorts of ways to please the lovely women that came into my life and surrendering myself wholly to their care and mercy has always been something very natural to me.

I am proud to be a submissive young man today, and shall be so forever!

All the Indian women I have met have been very assertive. It seems to me that they are natural doms, but of course they may have to look for white guys because Indian guys will never accept sub roles.

I love it when people make comments like that. Now I have never been to India, so I have no personal experience on the subject. However, reading this thread I see responses from at least 2 Indian guys who claim they are subs. Maybe no one ever told them they wern't supposed to accept sub roles?
