Hello all,

Need to ask a question about pain tolerances. Recently, less than a month ago, i had a number of surgeries, DNC, Endometrial ablation, tubal, etc. and now i seem to have no pain tolerance at all. Tried to play a couple of times recently, light stuff, some light knife play, wax play and flogging and the candles had to be held really high and i nearly passed out from the flogging scene. So was wondering, for any who have experienced those types of surgeries, how long was it before your pain tolerance was back to normal.

Thank you in advance,
heartfelt

less than a month is not time enough to heal from your sugeries, given the number you had. Your body is still reeling from the effects of the pain from the surgeries. Given, they were relatively minor proceedures, but everyones body heals differently, and in different stages. One surgery can take a couple of weeks, or a month, let alone as many as you had. Give yourself time to heal. Your pain tolerance will return when your body is sufficiently healed to handle pain again.

Thank you for your reply. i guess the frustrating part of it all is that i feel fine otherwise, but i know that you are correct, that it will return eventually, was just trying to gauge how long eventually might be (grinning).

Thanks again,
heartfelt

I had a similar situation that happened, and was concerned because my pain tolerance dropped so drastically. Here is a link to the posting, and the helpful feedback that I got:

My tolerance seems to have returned to normal now. Got my nipples pierced last week, without a flinch. *grins*

Hope you are feeling better soon......or, hurting in a more fun way, soon. *smiles*

In the last 6 months I've also had two totally seperate surgeries.  One I chose for my own well being.  One with an overzealous doctor.

In any event I am fine now.  I also have noticed my pain tolerance goes down while in the hospital.  The way I define it within my head is...it is a different set of pain.  It is traumatizing when someone tells you that you are going to fall over dead just walking down the street one day.
It affects us in different ways.  We just need to recoup and we will be fine again.  Give it some time.  Back in the old days when my mother had the same operations I have had they told her it would be months before she recovered.  Yet, I came home the same day on both occassions.  We move faster now and we expect ourselves to be healed just as fast.  Our body still moves the same speed.

As the other have stated it will come back. It will take time. The sad truth is you might need to step back from the lifestyle for a little while as far as the play goes just untill your body heals. everyone is different and everyone heals at a different rate. Your Top will understand this and for letting Him or Her know this will only strengthen your relationship and trust. Besides there are other ways to play then just floggings and knife play. Get back to basics and the gentle sensual play that most vanilla folks call kink. I wish you a speedy recovery and tip my hat to you for trying to please your Top so soon.

hi heartfelt,

ive been where you are. i asked my doctor becuase i had the same problem you are having now. her response was how your body is still bruised and swollen inside. work on kegal exercises and dont rush yourself.  my understanding is that when you start to get aroused, you cause your female parts start to contract....remember that its doing this while you body is still not 100%.  Basically, you get to start over for sensation....ooooo....i had a blast when i did it. hope this helps you some.

Thank you all for your replies. Tried to play again last night, and ended up having to stop early because of getting excessively hot and lightheaded again. my pain tolerance or skin sensitivity still seems to be off and i'm starting to wonder if going off birth control, which were sort of acting like hormone replacement during perimenopause is also factoring in here. Lots of changes all at one time, no more birth control pills (which my blood pressure likes) and 4 surgeries all at the same time.

Thank you again,
heartfelt

Do be patient and kind to your body.  If you rush into activities that are too intense or too stimulating you will slow the healing process.  Try other types of play, like role playing, etc. that are less physically demanding.

From a purely medical prospective, it varies according to person to person, as well as how good the surgeon was. Biologically, surgery disrupts a number of the systems the body uses to process pain and sensation in the area. Nerves are cut, sensory cells damaged. Scar tissue forms. I wont bore anyone with a descripion of healing processes nor the effects thereof, but it's a guessing game. It may be a week from now, it may never be the same.

Hey, no problem. If it persists, though, and it starts to bother you, you may want to go see a dermitologist or a neruologist to rule out something called neuropathy,  which can cause intensification of pain sensation. Also, the dermitologist can try certain therapies, such as TENS stimulation, and non-narcotic drug therapies to attempt to bring it back to normal.
