while i spent more time in the puppy mosh pit at Beyond Vanilla than seeing presenters, i was totally blown away just talking to Vi Johnson...and then her keynote speach...there was not a person in there that could say they have done everything they could to keep the government out of our bedroom, even in the simplest regards...there is a kinky people's movement coming....if you are of any kink - this is your responsibility...glbt, bdsm, leather, furry, drag queens, puppies, kitties, ponies, poly, etc. - if you don't do it missionary, under the covers married between one man and one woman for the purpose of procreation - this is your movement....and more to come...with a website and t-shirt template (i believe..the idea is in the works at least) and everything...

Vi is indeed an impressive speaker. The message she gave in her keynote is that there has been legislation unfriendly to sexual freedom that has passed or has been proposed. One specific example she gave is legislation that was passed in Texas where only 17% of the eligible population voted. Her message is for proponents of sexual freedom is to use their political voice. She suggested ways that organized BDSM groups can help enable this voice via voter registration drives within the group, carpooling and going to vote as a group, etc. Cheers, Sea

This is an old post, but I just did my first convention, Leather Retreat, and am now hooked on seeing classes, so I was searching for names of good speakers to see. I wanted to add some names of presenters I really enjoyed at Leather Retreat. I hadn't seen a class before. SxySadist has a very informative class on CBT with a lot of creative ideas Lochai and Jenice? for their bondage Jim and Jerith for their Breath Play class with a lot of safety information and really intense fear play class Lolita's classes were really funny

Well, aside from Midori.... LOL Cleo Dubois. I was in a room when she did a "Spirituality in BDSM" demo at Thunder about five or six years ago... and it was... the closest thing I've had to a supernatural experience! I've always heard about religious ecstacies, but this was the first time I'd ever experienced one...

I've seen a lot of presenters in my time. These three stick out as the most enjoyable. Don Bastian - makes this list because of his extensive knowledge in the single tail but also because he's a dear friend. Guy Baldwin - First major event I went to he was there. Seems like a hundred years ago. Jay Wiseman - As someone previously said, Jay gets a little...uhm...preachy at times but to this day his presentation sticks out as one of the best.

I guess the one who made the biggest impression on me was Lolita Wolfe when she came to Desert Dominion a few years ago to do a seminar on CBT. But, that's probably due to the fact that I had the honor of being her demo bottom. I did have kind of a hard time paying attention to what she was saying, for some reason.

I would have to say Master Bert and slave nadine, Midori, Cleo Dubois, Master Wayne from Atlanta. He did a demo on single tails and My lil one was honored to be his demo girl. All I can say on that one was WOW. Suzan and ed from Atlanta, I can spend hours talking to them.

I am with Merc on Skip Casey, he is an amazing presenter with an intense personal energy that just draws people to him. Funny everyone here mentioning Midori, a while back we had a thread and many people were bitching about "who the hell is she". Her book on bdsm, while directed at the inexperienced is a far better book than any of the other similar ones.
