pahunkboy -> lead test kits?~~ ? (9/23/2007 4:06:42 PM)

ok- in light of the lead toys problem...I want to take the problem into my own hands. Rather then waiting for the government I want to by a lead test kit and do my own. Both for my 1 yr old nephew and for myself.

Who has experience with lead tester products? I googled a search- the cheaper ones look like they wont work. CAn anyone recommend a tester????

Google up Environmental Test Labs in your area and order the kit along with instructions from them.
Most Labs of that kind can give you all you need to test for most anything.
They will tell you how much sample is required and such the tests are fairly cheap, but worth it for peace of mind in many cases.

a google search for "how to test for lead" brought up a kit for $13.

I never had nor used a lead tester. However, asking some grad students and a chemist professor at a near by college, should point you in the right direction on which kits and or test to trust.
