FullCircle -> RE: Would you give your bone marrow? (9/24/2007 2:24:36 PM)

Nobody has said no yet which strikes me as odd considering there is such a large waiting list for transplants and blood stocks are so low. I’m a registered organ donor as it seemed obvious to me that if I wasn’t in need of something due to being dead someone else might need it. I think the problem is that most people don’t like to think that terrible things will happen to them, it’s the same reason so few take out life insurance etc. The system for organ donations in the UK is currently being debated with an opt out rather than opt in being proposed. I doubt this will ever happen but if it did it would help a great deal.

i've autoimmune disease.  i'm not allowed to donate...plus there is the idiot i was married to, who practiced risky behavior that led me to be on the "cant donate" list also.

i definitely would, but like already stated. with how often i go and poke holes in myself, and having to at least a year without them. there is nomrally only about a three month time span every few years that i qualify to donate anything to be avaible for on a general list. but if it was a close friend or family i wouldnt hesistate.

I'm O+ and would love to donate, but I got a piece o' cow in me, and it's a no-go until the Red Cross gets a cheap test for "mad cow" disease.
