These brave but abused men and women are highly discouraged to speak out publicly against the policies of the Misleader-in-Chief, but their campaign donations are speaking quite eloquently.

Another Paul constituency, interestingly enough, comes from the military. A study by the Center for Responsive Politics found [the anti-war] Paul received more campaign cash from members of the military than any other Republican presidential candidate.

So far this year, 40 percent of military money has gone to Democrats for Congress and president, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Anti-war presidential candidates Barack Obama and Ron Paul are the top recipients of military money.

As someone who was in the Army and had to watch his buddies surpass him because of medical reasons, I should smack you with a blunt object made of metal. There are no phoney soldiers. Only people willing to lay their lives on the line for themselves and others. Must be nice to be an armchair general there, Patton.

You need to realize something. When we signed our 18 page + contract to enlist, we agreed to follow the orders of our superiors, which includes the President, and Congress. Stop trolling with inciteful comments.

You're misreading my entire post I think. I know there are no "phony soldiers" - although the Misleader-in-Chief's wild drinking binges in Alabama when he was supposed to be on duty in the TANG don't exactly evoke "Profiles in Courage". It's that darling of right wing radio Rush Limbaugh who has used that term for service members who disagree with our idiotic policies in Iraq. I am just highlighting above that - in the most allowable way they can, through donations rather than overt protest - roughly half of our military qualifies as what Mr. Limbaugh calls "phony soldiers". They are giving to the democrats or the anti-war Republican candidate.

I hope that cleared some things up for you.

Thanks, Stef. Who knew there were so many "phony" soldiers? How will Rush ever get around to questioning the service of all of them, so we'll know who's real and who's not? My my, what a predicament.

I love that liberal math. How do you get roughly half from those numbers? Ron Paul got 650$ dollars more Than John Mcain from the 1.5 million active and reserve millitary people, to a whopping total of 19,000$ (19k). Obama beat Paul by a whopping 6k. In a pool of 1.5 million he got 6,000 more. And to be honest, the millitary does have a culture of Strong Patriotic African Americans who joined the millitary to stand up for their human rights, of course they love Obama with an extra zeal. Hillary, who is the front runner and the party is begining to fall in behind, didn't even show in this. And to be honest, there are "Keepers Of the Odd Knowledge" in the millitary: white supremist nuts, very religious want to kill for God types, UFO's, Christian Identity folks. They try to screen them out, and keep the borderline ones on short leashes. Of course they support Paul. No surprise there. the fact is most soldiers don't have the cash or intrest to support people in the primaries, and most of the support that does come is from the Officers, not the Men and Women in the field(the vast majority).

It is an interesting finding that of the statistically too small to be relevant sample the Dems are picking up strength, from past trends. But to conclude as the OP does that "roughly half of the military is now composed of "anti war" soldiers, from this data is just funny. It does show that one side is grasping at straws.

Oh come on, Heretic, help us out here. Mr. Limbaugh has astutely detected this problem of "phony soldiers" who pop up from time to time on leftwing blogs and ads, opposing the war. It turns out that half the military is made up of these types. Apparently it is a growing cancer-- nay, a mutiny of sorts. Shouldn't the Pentagon be alerted to this underestimated problem?

Or perhaps this is what Rumsfeld meant with his "leaner, meaner" force plan - substitute in phony, inflatable dolls for half the force? 100% of the camo gear but with a third less fortitude than the regular soldier? I'm tired and punchy but maybe I'm onto something here, do you think?

Hey Lurking, don't let Suzanne slip that past you. Look into the contraversy for yourself. Make sure you hear a full clip of what was said, the left wingers are trying to get people to listen to a clipped one. Rush is talking about Anti War activists who claim to be soldiers and are not. He names a specific one, Jesse Macbeth. This group VoteVets that is part of CAP and MoveOn claims to be a veterans group, but only 1 in 2000 of thier members are actually vets---Not even their entire Leadership are Vets, is hyping it.

well, I am absolutely conservative on this issue, lets let the states rights people have their absolute right the rule, ther is no reason that we have to support the federal bullshit, and eache state should vote on this issue, and I for one vote that the state of minnesota should not allow the federal usage of state troops to fight the federal war, I think the conservative fuckwads should vote the draft and stand up like men, if the war is so important, this is a federal issue and not a states rights-------------then take a federal tack. Enjoin a draft or be what you say you are.

You forgot the word "LAWFUL" before the word "orders", there, cupcake.

Which shows better than anything exactly what the problem is. Being a CITIZEN-soldier means you have a positive duty to assess EACH AND EVERY ORDER for lawfulness.

Remember, we hanged nazis at Nuremberg to prove the point that "Just Following Orders" wasn't a good enough excuse.

Nope, I am saying that anyone who supports the ideals of Rush Limbaugh or voices anything approaching supporting this dick weasel is a coward, and a shitsucker. Goddamit, this is a free country, and really if it was conservative as these dickeaters profess, then there would be a states rights vote on whether we send or boys to this little pecadillo and thats it, or the fucking coward and shit eater bush calls this a war, and then it is federal. I say further that because this is not a war (federal) but a conflict then the states should vote out loud about sending the guard and reserves in rotation into this obviously illegal fray.

Oh, conservatism only comes into play when we talk about money to give healthcare to children,which doesnt meet our principles (not likely) but we can apportion in supplemental spending bills untold money for some asswipe ideal that can not come to pass? Eat shit, there aint a conservative among them and I am ashamed they use my name like I agree with them these fucktards.
