Did anyone see this article? I read it and thought no wonder society thinks that we're all crazy. Its people like this that give us the bad name.

So do you feel that LeBlanc is responsible for Exley death even though it was consensual?

Go to Yahoo! News and search "S&M death raises legal questions". You should be able to find the article that way.

intresting case, it realy shows how carefull You have to be and how much trust is needed when doing some thing like that. I would never agree to be tied up and left alone in a closet for a few hours with some one I just met. I am a bit confused on what is being sued in the artical but i hope this will bring more awarness of safty and trust and not a legal backlash against our community.

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/law/10/11/bondage.death.ap/index.html There is another link to it. It bothered me when I read this part, I mean it sounds like she is simply suing the estate out of grief..
"It was Exley's mother, Maggie Horner, who decided to sue LeBlanc's estate.
"We decided that we didn't want Gary's last wishes being granted when Adrian's couldn't be," she said. "Why should Gary be able to kill my son, bury my son, shoot himself and still get his own way?"

LeBlanc should checked him consistantly. and require verbal confirmation of being okay.  I would never been able to go to sleep if someone was bound in my closet.

Absolutely. He sounded horrifically irresponsible and there is no no excuse for doing anything like that. From what I read he had a reputation for not adhering to safety. But I honestly don't get suing someones estate for it.If he hadn't committed suicide, yeah sue him after he goes to prison.  Like if my sister had been hypothetically killed during a scene, and the Top committed suicide I would not sue the estate. It doesn't make sense to me.

It just showed up on the front page of cnn.com so i figured for sure it would be discussed over here :)

It certainly sounds like pretty straightforward negligence to me, as the one commentator says, just the details are a bit salacious.

It's dangerous enough to leave someone simply bound alone for any period of time, but adding in the fact that he was quite seriously restricted in breathing, it boggles my mind that he would be left unattended while LeBlanc went to sleep. I wonder what the involvement of the third guy is all about, though. As usual, there's probably a lot to the story that isn't being reported -- I'd be curious to read the suicide note since presumably he spelled out the details of what happened.

Unfortunately that is what often happens with the familes of people who are gay, transgender, or bi. Add a kinky death to it.. and the factor to want to get back at the guy, even his estate for putting thier son's life on the map/news is going to go up exponentially. I see it all the time in friends of mine who's partners die, or have accidents, or just break up. God forbid if there is a child in the relationship durring a break up. The families are like rabid tasmainian devils on crack.

My lovely Cuban mother in law ( my girl's mother ) is a classic case of why you get legal documents. I am glad our son is legaly mine, and was phsyicaly born from me before I ever met Sophie my girl. She still makes our lives hell though.

I think the guy was simply a moron. This is Exhibit A. to why you should never scene with someone you do not honestly know very very well, and in person. Yes, velcro collars can and indeed in this case did kill. The local community knew he was bad news even. That is so sad.

Gwyn
