YesMistressIrish -> RE: From where do experts hail? (10/15/2007 8:23:10 AM)

Great thread idea (thanks OP) and this is something that has been on my mind lately. When I saw the full list of bdsm skills to be checked on cm I hesitated for many months. I do not think of myself as an 'expert' but as a person gaining more expertise every day. By my standards an 'expert' is someone who can teach at an extremely high skill level. Some of the skills in bdsm may take many 100s of times to perfect and even then there is room for improvement.  I think because of my passionate and enthusiastic nature in life and on the boards, some may confuse that with my 'claiming' to be an expert. The more I learn, the more I know...I do not know.

I have a goal: After my house projects are *sigh* more of a fait accomplis I dream of spending almost 24/7 studying the arts of BDSM as a Domina.  I learn best by watching, then by jumping in and doing. Intuition plays a big part.  I am good at several things, and have a lot to learn in others. And, although regrets are a total waste of time I do wish I could have been 'out' for a much larger portion of my life.

Experts and expertise: some good distinctions were made here on this thread already about the difference.

Being on the riper side of 40 I know that life is too short, too fleeting to waste.

Looking up 'Turks Head Knot' now......

ps: looked it up, practiced it, almost got it. Still needs work.

The only options Collar Me allows are 'beginner', 'average', and 'expert'.

How many times does one have to do something they enjoy before checking 'average' would be an understatement? [;)]

KnightofMists -> RE: From where do experts hail? (10/16/2007 6:48:21 AM)

just another thought with regards to this thread....

Being Knowledgable and being an Expert on a given subject is not the same thing to me.

I think alot of people immediately relate to a person with knowledge as being an expert.  However, I do not see that as being the case.  I do see Experts being highly knowledgable... but not all knowledgable people are going to be experts on the given skill.

Bob, I just heard/read ya left.  Whattt the hell lol.

I cannot believe you do not have the fortitude to just do what you do even if (to me) you are long-winded, obstinate and a lil arrogant on your ideals.

I honestly cannot believe you fell trap to being run off by total strangers.

I didn't agree to lots of your posts and your methods were the madness in so far as the route to took in selective respondsiveness, but to quit?

I don't think it is necessary to befriend those who are in dire need of a life beyond a keyboard nor to join the derogatory-duos here but do stick to your values and maybe shorten up the convos.  Long (this, to me is longgg)paragraphs of too much detail using big wurds is only pretentious and shallow in a place like this.  Maybe if you just kept it short, make your points and kept up with as many details in responses as possible.  Not to mention, that if it gets personal, you allowed it. What I did decipher from your postings was iffy to ok, but it is a medium chalk full of people who perhaps would enjoy your tone in KISS terms.

I would have written this in email but I feel I owe it publicly since I do not know you privately.

Anyhoo, be well, good luck, wherever you are, No hard feelings I hope.

PS! I apologize publicly because if I were in any way one you would define as partial 'cause of' and/or thought of as cold and calculating enough to be thrilled at the disposal of any bdsm candidate, fellow human from being an active member of a forum (in discussion of what they enjoy or envelope into their life). That is just not my style.

I like to believe the first cavemen who dragged their ladies back to their cave were the first experts (don't burst my bubble here). I also like to think I inherited my tendencies from the Vikings (yep, I'm of Norwegian ancestry and trace it all the way back to the last pagan tribe) who spread their DNA around the world via rape and ravishment (and taking a few women back to improve their gene pool).

I would give you an expert certificate just like mine, if I hadn't broken the purple crayon.

Ladylegs where did you get the purple crayon from. Do you have Barney under consideration.

Gotta love purple crayons...and hair pulling...hmmmmmmmm, perhaps pulling a submissive's hair and then coloring it purple while it is being pulled?
